Re:Show HN: My book on PHP 7 on Wednesday October 07, 2015 @03:44AM (#10344698)
If you make a free sample, you better include something more than just a short introduction. When I found an interesting book in a bookstore, I usually open it in the middle. This way it is easier to get idea how the author writes and what his style is.

"A brief history" and "What's new..." I can find such things on the Internet and rewrite them. Everyone can rewrite, right?

So, what I mean is, you have to win your potential readers by your style, your ability to explain things and so on.

Thumbs up! I gave it a try and ended up using it for my project!

These are the things I like about it:

1. Simplicity and easy set up. 2. I am not forced to provide my personal information 3. Customizable workspace 4. Easy to invite co-workers

1. There should definitely add different options, not only singing up with Google. What if I don't want to share my Google account?

2. Drop the "Are you sure you want to close this chat?". It's annoying and reminds me of Windows' stupid prompt dialogs.

3. CREATE AND MANAGE CAREER PAGES: "Brand" is an empty laptop screen. "Change" is some website and "Job" is about moving to a different place, which is so far, so you even have to fly there?

Re:Ask HN: GUI Design. Where to start? on Tuesday September 22, 2015 @03:48AM (#10257207)
Thank you so much! I found the perfect prototyping tool for me!

Ask HN: GUI Design. Where to start?

I study Computer Engineering and I currently work on my final degree project. I develop software for a touchscreen tablet which will be integrated into a vehicle to be a part of its electronics system. So far I implemented almost all the necessary functions and met the functional requierements. My current GUI is just a rough draft and has no structure. I have 6 weeks to design an automotive GUI...

Re:Ask HN: What would you want in a paid SEO tool? on Monday September 21, 2015 @01:36AM (#10250538)
- A dynamic checklist of things I have to do in order to optimize my website. - A list of my competitors (e.g. similar websites) - A graphic overview showing which pages are optimized and how well. - An option to embed a code which does a simple traffic analysis (how many users visiting my sites daily, where do they come from etc.) - Social media tools - Extra paid features - Customizable widgets screen - Progress report
I would buy a software which memorizes my programming habits and makes proposals while coding
Sublime Text 2. I love its simplicity! Even using IDE's at work, sometimes you need a fast text editor with syntax highlighting.

In order to prepare for an exam try to make your own "cheat sheet" (I don't mean to take it to the exam).

I personally memorize stuff when I write it down on paper.

I don't try to memorize syntax on purpose - it happens automatically when you code a lot in one programming language.
