Show HN: Blobz: generate playful, deterministic SVG avatars from any string

https://blobz.lirena.in

hey everynyan,i've always found it funny how much effort goes into making websites look good, only for every new user to be greeted by the same boring pfp.and if you're building an app with hundreds of users, you're probably either assigning random images from a small collection or asking users to upload their own.i wanted something better for the default state.so i built blobz.it turns any...

A weekly newsletter, five posts every Saturday, featuring LinkedIn's most unhinged moments.Best part is people can nominate posts as wellI guess it will give another post idea to them "I am thrilled to announce I was featured in...

Show HN: Monchromate v1.5.0 – Smart greyscale browser extension

https://monochromate.lirena.in/release-notes

Last month I posted here about my extension called Monochromate, a greyscale extension I built because I spend most of my time in the browser and couldn’t find the right solution for my needs (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44726807). Thanks to that post I got a ton of feedback, new contributors on GitHub, and we’ve now crossed 450+ users with a 5-star rating on both chrome...

Show HN: Expansions of Programming Related Acronyms

https://github.com/lirena00/absurd-expansions

A while back I came across https://github.com/npm/npm-expansions, a fun repository where people came up with alternative meanings for "npm." By the time I found it, though, the repo was no longer being maintained. So I decided to start my own version, not limited to npm, but covering all sorts of programming related acronyms as well. It’s just a lighthearted fun project, nothing too serious. You...

Re:Show HN: I built an app to block Shorts and Reels on Tuesday August 19, 2025 @05:14AM (#44949727)
ngl much needed app for sure, I really hate short form conent and such
that's great to hear, next release will be focused on this too then :)
it takes a bit of time to put filters over website so it is normal to have that but I will see what I can do with it

and

androids do usually have a greyscale mode on the devices preinstalled, I can work around a bit to make it compatible with firefox android as well but I think an app is what you are looking for? greyscaling particular apps right?

;)
Glad you liked it
yes, definitely I am with you at that point, they are a great way to do this without a doubt although I am a windows user (lol) and also even if it's very fast to toggle the color filters via shortcut keys. I don't think so that I will be willing to toggle it off when I visit any work-related website like GitHub, Figma and such so site exclusion of this extension works really great for me in that perspective.

Show HN: Monchromate – the best greyscale browser extension

https://monochromate.lirena.in

4 months back I started making an extension named monochromate which was basically a greyscale extension, I realised power of them when I turned it on my phone and the thing is being a programmer most of my time is spent on browsers ... and that's where it don't exist (at least not the perfect solution for my needs). That's how I came up with it, made it open source, recently passed 100 users...

Show HN: Compadcn – A CLI wrapper to speed up shadcn/UI component management

https://github.com/lirena00/compadcn

I’ve been using shadcn/ui in my projects lately, and while it's great, I kept running into friction using its CLI, it only had add command and no remove command and even add command was so full of frictionSo I built compadcn: a CLI wrapper that adds interactive add/remove menus, presets, linting for unused components, and safe dependency-aware uninstalling.Still early, open source, and built in...
