Overall populations don't have flawed genes... Before jumping on statins and such it's important fixing underlying cause and even then try to get actual data my having imagine to get soft plaque.. not cacb score which is only relevant in later stages

High cholesterol could be from high glucose/insulin damaging arteries

Or could also be from weight loss

Simplest fixes are

- eat low carb

- don't eat all day intermittent fasting

- walk after eating to lower spike

- eat olives which protects lining of veins and arteries

- avoid seed oils

- pick antiinflammatory foods and supplements

- take l-arginine and similar supplements, sunlight, green veggies, no mouth wash, exercise to increase nitrogen oxide production... Breath through nose as well

- exercise to increase good cholesterol

- sleep well and keep cortisol low (stress)

Cholesterol is needed for hormones, brain, everything... I believe statin are linked to Alzheimer

Maybe there should be pool fund. Say you contribute $20 a year to it, and it gets distributed to all extensions you have monthly

Re:Ask HN: Why do people use TypeScript on Wednesday December 25, 2024 @10:24PM (#42512919)
I see people over engineer types how people in java over engineer oop.. reusability through dragging jungle everywhere, not clean composition
Re:Ask HN: Why do people use TypeScript on Wednesday December 25, 2024 @12:41PM (#42509938)
No if explicit let's you create a jungle

Ask HN: Why do people use TypeScript

What ts engine allows like go to reference, parameter prediction, type inferring, auto complete... These are amazing benefits you get is if you have setup jsconfig properly.. however these should have remained in the realm of tooling or library.Problem 1: acrobatics with composing mixing type... I always hated java for complexity it encourages... But java has nothing on TS devs who perform 30...

Ask HN: Why couldn't react remain simple?

In my opinion react has been downhill since hooks.. if I could recreate react I'd disallow passing functions or components into props or children.I'd definitely disable use contextI'd provide simple global state..For any component if you wanted know what data it gets there would be only one source, props.Lifecycle methods will be simple: before, during, after..Probably eliminate function syntax...

This seems interesting and bit lame quirk but I've a gut feeling there is a lot more potential here
Potential for indie game devs

That too.. it looks like it is about to say something but realizes it doesn't get paid enough
Re:Ask HN: Skills that give you the edge? on Monday January 01, 2024 @10:22PM (#38837723)
Ability to speak in articulate, convincing, friendly manner and with different styles under different situations

Why do I feel ChatGPT is getting worse?

It feels like talking to a low paid corporate junior rep. Before it would talk with you, explore, theorize, and say things unfiltered..Now it's like small, I'm sorry I'm a computer I can't... What can I help you with?Almost back to Google search

Ai kinda follows iterative exploration approach too
Re:RNA repair mechanism discovered in humans on Saturday May 13, 2023 @06:32PM (#35933412)
i dont a human can create a system this complicated... i dont think we can even map it out. if it's done, it'd be done by AI and it'd be a black box. we couldn't create an autonomous car, we need ai to come up with million rules and parameters. same story here just order of magnitudes more complex.

Ask HN: Do you care about tech anymore?

For some reason I find that I just don't care about tech at all. Something happened in last year that completely killed it. Just how I couldn't care less that what type of exhaust is the best for certain type of motor bikes... Similarly don't care about compiler speed, output size, execution speed, etc. Almost like realizing that none of it matters it's not your choice what you use. The more...

Ask HN: What assurance do you have that you are NOT being spied on?

way back it used to be if you called someone you could think someone is listening to you maybe. But what about now?Would it be fair and reasonable to assume that...- all your devices even when off are in some capacity are listening to you especially microphones and maybe cameras- all OS(win/mac/linux/andoird/ios...) either have secret backdoors or intentionally implemented backdoors- most...

I always felt US was most authoritative govt amongst the democratic countries, now I feel that spot is being taken either by UK or Australian govts.
computers wasn't something anyone could make publish right, internet was easier to get into, for computers you needed companies like IBM and MS.

Ask HN: Is AI revolution only for the select few unlike internet/mobile eras?

We had internet and it was very democratic anyone/anywhere could build something, then smartphones came and it created new age of similar oppurtunities. However, It feels to me that AI age is different only companies with unlimited funding can come up with models and new advances (midjourney/openai)... and rest have to either sit and watch or rely on their tech stack which is a risky proposition...

Ask HN: Is being a independent freelance web developer still feasible?

Between webflow, wix and squarspace.. it seems the people who could benefit from having a web developer develop them a website is narrower than ever. Are you successful in building things from scratch as standalone person/company not "consultant" who is really a contractor at another tech company?

Re: on Saturday January 14, 2023 @02:33PM (#34383318)
pretty much what most PMs don't do exactly, they just take what managment says verbatium and just throw screenshots on top of another screenshot together without even bothering to properly account for most common states, research? user insights? etc.. it always goes like this: we made change x, our y metric increased. Waste of space.
