The book Advanced Programming in the Unix Environment also covers something similar iirc.

The blog looks really nice! Definitely gonna read the other posts when I have time.
Yeah, makes sense. I'm gonna try that out. Thanks!
That makes sense. Do you have any advice on finding local meetups?
Thanks, that's very comprehensive! I'll have to try finding some good podcasts.
Ah, sorry I'm probably in a different timezone. As for goals, I know having a specific goal when asking for advice is ideal, but I guess I don't really have one. I guess I'm kind of lost in life and want to expose myself to people who are smart and sort of have it figured out.

Ask HN: How do I expand my worldview and meet smart people online?

Going to a big school and meeting people with different backgrounds and interests has made me painfully aware of how ignorant I am. I'd like to meet people who will challenge me intellectually and act as a catalyst for my growth. I'm thinking of reading some lesswrong posts and hanging around in the comments and perhaps exploring that part of the internet. It's not perfect but it's a start I...

Re:Ask HN: What browser extensions are a must-have in 2021? on Tuesday November 23, 2021 @04:15AM (#29315971)
I think OP is asking for privacy related extensions but here’s a fun one that I use: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nicolas-cage/fjgbn...

It replaces every instance of “god” on your current web page with “Nicolas Cage.” Gets me every time.

Ask HN: Anyone Here Using Stenography

Hi, I just discovered what steno is and it seems really cool. Right now I am just blown away by how fast some stenographers can type. I am thinking of buying a Uni v3 but wondering if the amount of effort it’ll take to learn steno will be worth it. Does anyone here use steno for programming or just writing in general? If you do, do you have any tips on how to learn stenography faster? Thanks in...

Oh wow, it certainly doesn't look that way but the new ones actually are thinner. That's interesting.

Am I the only one bothered by the thickness? I mean, the new macs are going to be amazing machines but....it's just so un-Apple, you know? Still, gonna pick one up as soon as I can :)
I see. I guess compute intensive stuff is usually implemented in c++. By the way, if you don't mind, could you share your experience in learning RL? I am struggling through Sutton and Barto's text right now and wondering if I'll progress faster if I just "dive into things." Also, nice project!
Could using something like AlphaZero.jl make it more efficient?

Btw, if any student is reading this you can use Jetbrains IDEs and a lot of other stuff for free if you apply for the Github student dev pack. So that’s something worth considering :)

hey! I’d been thinking about this just a few days ago! It’s great that the print version is finally out. Congratulations on publishing your book!

Doesn't the green bubble mean that it's sent over SMS? I'm pretty sure the reason it exists isn't because of some "pretentiousness"
