Completely agree! First time seeing something like this.
Did the same experiment sometime ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48764151

Show HN: Indextkn – live list prices for 900 AI models in one API

https://indextkn.com

I've been building quite a few POCs that use LLMs at work, and something that always comes up is: "OK, how much are we paying for X?" Or the one that follows right after: "If we use another model, would that be cheaper?"So far, what we've used are hardcoded files or keeping the data in our DB. This won't hold when moving to prod. It also keeps us very limited when it comes to creating price...

{"error": "internal error"}, when trying to open the live map.

I love the attitude. Period. And I also understand his personal decision to not use it to create mobile apps, as mentioned. But, I would not follow the same route. There are several open source projects, and just because models were trained with their code, it shouldn’t stop me of creating something similar/better, with my “taste” (from another post this week) in mind. We are all different. We should have different options. I fully support open-source, but I support way more the creativity and idea from individuals that can generate something new.

Ask HN: How much software do you build for yourself these days?

With the cost of building software continuing to drop, what have you found yourself doing more: using other people's software, or building it yourself?I was thinking about this... I've built our family's financial system (it started as a simple budgeting tool, but now it tracks everything), a Mac app to create and edit videos, quite a few developer tools for personal use, a bunch of apps for my...

Show HN: Who wants to be hired?" meets "Who is hiring?" (July 2026)

https://hn-job-match-production.up.railway.app/

Hey y'all! Long-time lurker here.I love both posts mentioned in the title, and something that I never understood in this day and age of AI: why not combine both?!If you posted on "Who wants to be hired?", you can search for your username and see the "best" matches (according to gemini-3.5-flash).Very basic stack: Bun, Instant DB (just because I have been using them for the past few months and I...

Interesting. Kind of similar in purpose, but I created a simple app to schedule and type the "continue" word in my terminal after X time has passed, since I have to wait for my usage to be restored. =)
I like it. I see this concept of allowing users to modify things to cater to their preferences being the future tbh.

haha nice project! I stayed there for a couple of minutes and had such a good time!
Re:Show HN: Putt.day a daily mini golf game on Friday June 12, 2026 @08:11PM (#48510874)
fun little game!
Forgot to mention: I built my personal finance app. I've been using a spreadsheet for almost 12 years now. Different versions over the years, but the same concept. It took me 3 days to get a web app that works better than the spreadsheet, and it's been life-changing!

In my opinion, this is late by almost two years. This should have been the v1 when they first presented Apple Intelligence.
Re:OpenAI Submits S-1 Draft to SEC on Monday June 08, 2026 @07:09PM (#48453707)
Why do you say this? It's OK to make such a bold statement, but you gotta share how you came to this conclusion. This helps with a good discussion.
Just kudos to OP for coming back. One thing I almost "hate" is that nowadays everyone can put something out there... videos, articles, etc., but when confronted with questions, you never see the discussion continue. YT videos are an example... SO MANY VIDEOS... People genuinely asking some good questions... and radio silence.
Re:HN seems dead compared to say 10-15 years ago on Monday June 08, 2026 @04:02PM (#48451021)
As someone who has been coming here for the past 8 years, I can't comment on "10-15 years" ago, but my experience hasn't changed a bit. This is and has been the only place where I visit almost daily (new account if you are looking at my profile) - and this is during vacation, during work, during weekends, etc. There is ALWAYS, literally, always an interesting discussion happening on topics that I would never be part of, if it wasn't for someone starting the discussion here. Yeh, today there is a bunch of AI, bla, bla, bla... so what will be next?! Not sure, but I know it will be here.
Well, I've been pretty active in our rec baseball team for the past few seasons, so: 1) App to help my son and other kids learn baseball IQ, and 2) Streaming app to compete against GameChanger. It's been refreshing to say the least. :)
