It is legal atomic waste, full of the bootlegs that killed music blogs.

But aye, true. Something will be done :)

I have entire albums in my old iTunes library that you literally cannot find online, anywhere. Hip hop beat tapes that were uploaded on a music blog in '07, and the blog was behind a Blogspot adult notice and so it never got archived, etc. Or old PHP-based music forums that did URLs via query param, which only ever got their homepage archived.

The pace of bitrot is freaking crazy!

Forget the calculus of the rooting site... Just leave it offline IMO... One's spying, sneaking LG TV is a genie in a bottle so long as it's never connected.

Note that they also started tracking tokens for normal chats in one's ChatGPT profile in the last couple weeks. Scroll to "Token activity" on: https://chatgpt.com/profile

I swear I’m almost done with it
A good story that touches on this is the Wizard and the Prophet, covering Norman Borlaug's efforts to crossbreed wheat that wasn't too tall, was resistant to blight, etc.

Airgapping.

I'm hoping goverments take stock of what is online that needn't be.

Some cities have laws limiting cashless businesses, as one example of that.

That’s inclusive of have-nots too, alongside the aforementioned no-thank-yous.

United States v. Cruikshank, 1875

> The First Amendment to the Constitution, prohibiting Congress from abridging the right to assemble and petition, was not intended to limit the action of the State governments in respect to their own citizens, but to operate upon the National Government alone.

Before the 14th Amendment, your hypothetical was quite possible at a state level.

> Which of these two things do you prefer overall? Use your own subjective judgment. Compare the actual things or topics described, not the quality of the Wikipedia writing. Choose exactly one.

I wonder how the concept of "you" here affects preference at all versus the broader passive:

> Which of these two things is preferred overall?

Or even more generically:

> Which of these two things is better overall?

If you know of a TV that automatically connects to networks without the user's permission, even some tiny brand, please share. I mean that sincerely, I feel like I talk about this every other month with someone.
Towards the bottom:

> Employee counts come from company reports via Yahoo Finance, with Wikipedia used where figures weren't available. They're not necessarily from the same date, and companies don't all count employees in exactly the same way.

> As the McDonald's and Welltower examples show, a company's reported workforce doesn't necessarily represent everyone whose labour contributes to its business.

Well, alright. I'm just not sure how useful this is. There's no way to normalize them but the data's presented as though they were. You also sum employees across sectors which compounds the errors.

We to date have had no proof of this happening. The best I found was someone on a Samsung forum years ago claiming their TV auto-connected to a public WiFi without proof.

Not saying it isn’t happening, nor that it won’t ever happen.
