The public transport app in my city almost does this well, it even affords cycling. But it isn’t quite as nuanced as one would like.
3. When your net worth is measured in billions you have other opportunities in your parenting not necessarily afforded equally to every other parental unit.

Both of these sports select for different type of body types - what do you mean? Gymnasts are shorter than the average population.

I would consider profitable to be a requirement to qualify as a product working and none of these fit the bill I believe?

Decidedly relatable to me to the point where I have a custom field on our ClickUps called ” Pain ” at my work
I am not even sure most people could articulate their morals. It's not just about never having heard about things as moral absolutism or consequentialism. Similar to how atrophied people's understanding of sympathy and empathy is as well.
Re:The Great Displacement Is Already Well Underway on Tuesday May 13, 2025 @05:11PM (#43977785)
I understand that and from the rest of your writing on your site that very much shows. I use AI professionally to great avail. Personally, I wouldn't put something similar in tone on my resume and when I review resumes this language is not something I'm looking for either.

I'll point out that what is your reality in your job market might be far different from mine. I'm in Europe.

I try to screen out people who come across as zealots or dogmatic about just about anything. Everything could have it's time and place - PHP included ;)

I look for people who are pragmatic and doubt I represent the "people who are hiring pool" to a great extent. But I am hiring and I can just tell you what I see here and how I see it.

I took a look at your resume to see if I would have relevant work for you but doesn't seem like it.

Maybe having vibecoding listed as a skill on your resume is a problem?

Alarm bells also go off when I see "Github (advanced)"

While you are powerless to change it I would also be concerned reviewing this resume as with the sole exception of your consultancy your longest tenure anywhere is just two years.

What level are you suggesting lateinit happens at if not on the JVM?

Wouldn't a potential workaround be to create a new barebones repository and push the repacked one there? Sure, people will have to change their remote origin but if it solves the problem that might be worth the hassle?
Not to mention how body language helps resolve so much surrounding tone when saying something in person. Telling someone to do a thing face-to-face can easily be neutrally charged. The same sentiment expressed in text can carry more weight - feel like an order and appear as if it is more urgent leading to stress
Re:What 10k Hours of Coding Taught Me: Don't Ship Fast on Saturday September 21, 2024 @01:02PM (#41611209)
Do ship fast until it is known what the application will even be and what the feature-set is and what needs the user actually has and not just what it is believed they need.

Don't sink a bunch of time into "cleanly" exploring the fog-of-war. Gather as much insight as possible as soon as possible. Only then will you be equipped to actually architect for the domain as it actually is rather than what you the developer think it might actually be.

Re:Spotify's layoffs put an end to Every Noise at Once on Tuesday February 13, 2024 @02:47AM (#39355509)
Such a shame. I am, or have been, a pretty avid Spotify user. I have some 100s of playlists there as I came into a rhythm of pegging a playlist to a year and a quarter. However, I'm more and more leaving that behind and starting to use NTS Radio. I discover more, and it's so much cheaper.

Re:Polars on Tuesday January 09, 2024 @02:51AM (#38923514)
I can't speak for the Python side of the Polars docs but coming from Python and Pandas to Rust and Polars hasn't always been easy. To be fair, that isn't just about docs but also finding articles or Stack Overflow answers for people doing similar things.
Re:Figure 01 has learned to make coffee on Sunday January 07, 2024 @10:48AM (#38902181)
I think what a lot of people want, again influenced by sci-fi, is a general-purpose robot that can do everything a human can do and preferably other things beyond that. One form factor that can do everything we do is obviously the way we humans look hence the inclination to design robots that look like us as well.

I could have multiple robots, one for vacuuming, one for doing the dishes, one for gardening, cleaning, renovating, etc. But, if I had one to do all of it any of the purpose-driven forms is likely to fail while the humanoid one _could_ succeed.

What's the story there?
One of the Swedish employees had a wife that posted about the strike on Twitter and the employee was summarily brought before HR.

But monitoring for life doesn't seem feasible. But they don't really have to. Just making people believe they can be penalized at any time can change their behavior.

It can be very warranted. For a client I'm working with now I'll routinely comment out big swaths of code as they change their mind back and forth every month or so on certain things. They won't even remember it used to exist.
