Silex (http://silex.sensiolabs.org/) is very well regarded.

Re:SB Hackercast #1 Clojure, Python & Ops, and Ninjas on Monday February 13, 2012 @03:54AM (#3584796)
Please level out the mic levels using a program such as levelator (http://www.conversationsnetwork.org/levelator). I was listening to the show with headphones and some of the laughing and the "oh god" at the end really hurt :(

Other than that the show was great. The topics you guys covered were interesting and you both know what you're talking about. Can't wait for the next show :)

Re:Justin.tv porting their site from Rails to Django? on Friday January 13, 2012 @02:22AM (#3459556)
They could run the site on PyPy as opposed to the CPython interpreter. Postgres and Django are well supported.

Re:Ask HN: Help me learn websockets. on Thursday October 06, 2011 @04:35AM (#3079447)
Tornado has Websocket handling built in. It's very easy to use.

Example code: https://github.com/facebook/tornado/tree/master/demos/websoc...

Re:Gabe Newell on monetization before game design on Tuesday August 30, 2011 @03:04AM (#2940432)
The original interview (http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/6471/the_valve_way_gab...) contains more information about how Valve is approaching Dota2, and some background around development of the game.
Looks to be run by Peter Cooper, the same person who runs the JavascriptWeekly[.com] newsletter.
Re:Fuel - A simple and flexible PHP Web Framework on Sunday April 10, 2011 @02:28AM (#2429012)
Nope.

Previous to PHP5.3 (when namespaces were introduced) most frameworks followed the Zend_Style_Of_Naming (That class would be located in Zend/Style/Of/Naming.php).

All new frameworks that support PHP5.3+ (with the exception of Fuel, it seems) have done away with Zend_Style_Naming and follow direct namespace <-> file mapping.

Re:Fuel - A simple and flexible PHP Web Framework on Sunday April 10, 2011 @02:20AM (#2428998)
Seems pretty lazy... it would be trivial to change the autoloader to check a Controller namespace/directory.
Re:Fuel - A simple and flexible PHP Web Framework on Sunday April 10, 2011 @02:19AM (#2428992)
Doctrine2 and Lithium took the lead and went 100% namespaces. Other projects such as Symfony2 and Solar2 have followed suit.
Re:Fuel - A simple and flexible PHP Web Framework on Sunday April 10, 2011 @02:17AM (#2428986)
Separate projects. Fuel CMS is powered by Code Igniter 2.
Re:Fuel - A simple and flexible PHP Web Framework on Sunday April 10, 2011 @12:53AM (#2428843)
Does anyone know why Fuel uses a mixture of Zend_Style class naming and namespaces? For example controllers are prefixed by Controller_ and are in the root namespace while tasks are put in the namespace Fuel\Task with no class prefix.

  class Controller_Foo{}

  namespace Fuel\Task;
  class Foo{}
It seems confusing.
Re:Phpfog "Down for maintenance" on Sunday March 20, 2011 @04:45AM (#2345863)
A mirror of the code dump (referred to in a tweet linked in this discussion) is hosted on a 16 webdev from Australia...

Atleast they were kind enough to remove all API keys and passwords from the code dump.

Re:Ask HN: How to write great PHP code? on Tuesday January 04, 2011 @04:10AM (#2066388)
The http://php.net/oop page is a great start. It lists all "modern features" of PHP. Almost all of which are used to write "great code".
Re:I created a bookmarking service you can love. on Sunday July 18, 2010 @02:44AM (#1525360)
How does this differ to services like http://pinboard.in?
Re:Poll: Where do you live? on Monday July 05, 2010 @08:43PM (#1489567)
New Zealand (Oceania), Dunedin specifically.

I'm interested to see how many other NZ hackers there are and where you're based.

Design is nice. SSL certificate is fine for me (chrome). On the signup page the 'Sign up now' button is off center (http://www.pastethat.com/CemUT). Although you hint at it with Hulu and Pandora, you may want to add that the servers are located in the USA. In the future you could think about adding a server in the UK, BBC iPlayer has very good content.
Re:Appcelerator comments on iPhone 4.0 ToS Sec. 3.3.1 on Thursday April 08, 2010 @05:14PM (#1250983)
"By now, most of you have probably seen or heard about Apple iPhone SDK 4.0 and a little hidden gem in their freshly minted 4.0 Terms of Services, notably 3.3.1: “Applications that link to Documented APIs through an intermediary translation or compatibility layer or tool are prohibited.” It’s clear that products like Titanium, Unity3D, Ansca, MonoTouch and others are now a bit in question for iPhone 4.0+ with this language. We’re all trying to get our heads around what this means and trying to reach out to Apple to get clarification. Hang tight, we’ll try and give you more information as we can figure it out from Apple. We don’t want to make any false promises or claims – and most importantly, we want to make sure we’re abiding by Apple’s rules."
Also a very accomplished JS programmer. He wrote the Code Mirror Editor.

Re:Ask HN: What sort of tweets annoy you? on Tuesday July 07, 2009 @06:30AM (#691244)
People who tweet what they eat. I don't mind the occasional 'those berries were nice' but some people go over the top. The exception to this rule is if they post a picture (twitpic) with it. You could analyze "eat", "lunch", "dinner" keywords.

People who RT everything someone says. For example I follow several web designers and programmers as well as Nettuts. Nettuts just RTs everything the other people tweet. Very annoying.

As other people have mentioned #moonfruit and #squarespace. Very annoying when they do it every single day. (Mayby analyse frequent hashtags in a certain period of time?)

Software vendors (Acer, HP etc..) will most likely install an open source web browser in any shop bought computer.
Re:Google Wave video leaked internal data at 33min43s on Sunday May 31, 2009 @03:00PM (#634966)
Document is titled 'Google Wave Overview' ?
I've found dropbox (http://getdropbox.com) to be a great tool. It syncs files across Windows, Mac and Linux (GNOME/Nautilus currently) and allows you to access your files online.

Just write a Python/insert lang here script that will copy your config files to their respective places on all operating systems (eg .vimrc).

Re:EuroDjangoCon Presentations on Friday May 15, 2009 @06:41PM (#611500)
They were recorded (apparently).

Not sure when they will be uploaded though :-(
