Also, VO2max is a very marketing-oriented indicator! But you’re right: the most accurate way to measure VO2max is breath-by-breath gas analysis during a maximal test. Wrist wearables (Garmin, Apple Watch, etc.) infer VO2max from HR/pace/power models it's convenient, but estimates and sport-dependent. Running vs cycling VO2max can differ for the same athlete.

Our device measures breath-by-breath VO2, VCO2 in real time and resolves individual breaths, which may unlock new respiratory metrics for researchers. The accuracy of threshold value measurements is equally important: ventilation threshold 1, ventilation threshold 2, tidal volume etc.

Sorry, this page isn't ready yet. The main page only has basic info. We've got a really tech team (4x PhDs) and we're testing real athletes and doing research, but that makes sense, and we'll definitely add more later! Thanks for your comment!

Show HN: Spaceflight-inspired pocket optical breath analyzer – 10Hz CO2/O2

https://mera.fit/

We built a pocket-sized optical breath analyzer based on an optical sensor for measuring CO2 and O2. It streams CPET metrics in real time (VO2, VCO2, VE, RER, Tv etc) for breath-by-breath analysis. Functional prototype based custom PCB, mobile app, and web platform are working.Demo videos:https://youtu.be/-DcvRPJJkj0https://youtube.com/shorts/Ycy8wP4oW2o?si=W0n1Oyof7M37kdtaWhat’s different ...

If you can, click on the up arrow opposite Igloo :)

Yep, we work closely with longevity community like Open Longevity and cooperate with InterSystems to integrate with the medical system.

Re:The Future of Decentralized Health on Sunday October 01, 2023 @05:30PM (#37731054)
The future of decentralized healthcare is mind-boggling! Imagine personalized treatments, AI-powered self-diagnostics, and instant access to medical data.

But in real world of health technology, revolutions don't happen overnight. This is a rather long process of research, a creation of new technologies, long laboratory testing and an even longer process of approved of FDA or CE Mark/IVDR.

This process is perfectly illustrated by a recent article about development and future of lateral flow assay for Nature: https://www.nature.com/articles/s44222-022-00007-3#Sec2

By the way, one of the first devices already available on market and game-changing rules, recently launched on HN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37638489

Igloo based on computer vision and multiplexing assay is part of decentralized health and affordable self-testing of the future. The revolution is just beginning!

New chapter in the history of preventive medicine and diagnostic methods begins. One of the good news, our Igloo device has gone on sale. Everyone can order it.

The main problem of typical lateral flow assays readers is the low quality of tests and detection, high price of devices and teeerrible UX. We fixed all these shortcomings through the introduction of computer vision and time-resolve fluorescence, as well as made support for almost any test manufacturers - one instrument for all lateral flow assays (LFA).

So far, about 10 biomarkers are available, but soon we will expand them to 300. We are also developing scalable technology for LFA, named microarray, this is when there are about 10-40 biomarkers for 1 test cassette at once (successfully tested on Alex allergy panel).

For now, we are more focused on B2B in the EU and MENA market. You can see our devices in pharmacies in Italy, in schools in Qatar or fitness clubs in Turkey: and we do things that don't scale.

We finished YC startupschool and passed caelestinus healthtech incubator, got CE Mark and IVDD for medical products of Class A for the first device, and it's not Theranos ;)

So, we really need your upvotes and support, because it is so important for people's health!!

PS: Open to collaboration with biotech and healthtech company, biohackers and enthusiasts. Ready to answer any of your questions.
