Re:How India’s massive 2019 election will work on Monday March 25, 2019 @12:31PM (#19483996)
He said "almost anything that India does is at an impressive scale". Nowhere he talked about elections.

Also elections in India are pretty much rigged especially because of people buying votes.

Re:Ask HN: Why does Paypal still exist? on Monday March 25, 2019 @08:11AM (#19481825)
I don't know. I trust PayPal. I am a client and I know if there's a problem they will always have my back even if I'm in the wrong.
Re:The silent victims of the US embargo against Iran on Monday March 25, 2019 @07:23AM (#19481594)
I am saying it's not illegal because the UN doesn't make law, and I know there will be no consequences for this "crime" because the UN can't enforce anything and no country which is in good terms with the UN will want to piss off the US.

Having said that, I do NOT condone sanctions in any form.

Re:The silent victims of the US embargo against Iran on Monday March 25, 2019 @07:13AM (#19481547)
The UN is completely toothless. Whatever they say is as relevant as if it had been said by a local court in Kazakhstan.

Iran sanctions didn't start with Trump. But you already knew that. The US has been choking Cuba for decades, for example.

Also, immoral/unjustified != illegal.

wsltty is absolute crap. Not only it is very very slow with long lines or fast output, it also freezes often with applications that have GUIs like irssi.
You've got a virus.
Clean if we ignore radioactive waste, that is.
Re:GNU Nano 4.0 on Sunday March 24, 2019 @02:26PM (#19477892)
I have the opposite experience: notepad, notepad++, vscode, kwrite/kate, sublime, gedit, and many more I've used... none of them had this unwanted behaviour.
Re:GNU Nano 4.0 on Sunday March 24, 2019 @01:32PM (#19477549)
Because if I type "hello" in a document, I expect the editor to save "hello", not "hello\n".
Maybe your ad blocker is misconfigured, an ad was loaded and requested that permission?
Once again, we're talking about DESKTOP Linux here.

https://xkcd.com/1200/

No, they are not the same thing in their USE, which is exactly the point I'm making.

I trust nginx, sshd, postgres, postfix, etc. much more than I trust the gnome file manager, evince, dbus, pulse.

For every exploit that nginx currently has, there probably are a thousand lurking in gnome's file roller.

yesssssssssss

And disabled by default, too.
I said desktop, not server.

I don't have any basis, just what I expect. Windows has been fuzzed and reverse engineered to the moon and back. Desktop Linux? I doubt it.

I'd say desktop Linux is more insecure than Windows, and the only reason we don't see malware is that nobody uses it. So if high profile targets, like energy companies, started using Linux on the desktop, it may end up being worse than Windows.
What if I loathe both things?
By conservative he meant NWO.
Grinding is perceived as a negative; if a grindy game is good enough to keep you grinding, why shouldn't it deserve to make more money?
Why should minors have the same rights as adults?
