Re:Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it on Monday November 02, 2026 @12:57AM (#50333561)
> To me, someone who chooses a worthwhile problem, obtains a proof completely using AI, understands it thoroughly, and uses it to develop interesting further questions or directions has made a substantial mathematical contribution. I would give that person substantial credit even if they supplied no new ingredient in the original proof. Choosing worthwhile problems may end up mattering more than producing proofs.

That is the correct take, but I can understand that given how current funding system (esp grants) work the incentive are stacked against doing that.

Why is this article 'flagged'?

Re:A Health Update on Friday October 30, 2026 @03:33AM (#50300812)
as the saying goes, "Health is a crown that the healthy wear, but only the sick can see."

Wishing you a full recovery.

Re:The Future of CSS on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @12:43PM (#50183878)
This is the type of article I really miss reading... before AI took about half of HN front page this is the type of stuff that would routinely pop up...
Re:I know why Mathematicians weep on Friday October 16, 2026 @02:23AM (#50114803)
the comment section is super split here, some people think ai is not doing anything useful until it proves/disproves something really out there, like riemann hypothesis
Re:Yes, and on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @02:52AM (#50067755)
I'm the CTO of a small startup that has web app, an Android and iOS app with a beefy database and media storage requirements. It's hard to see the same output possible with our current resourcing without use of LLMs. At the very least we would've needed 2 more devs just last year.
Re:Passkeys are a trap. Do not use them on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @12:43AM (#50066824)
that was an eye opening read. thank you.
Re:Show HN: Destroy Any Website with Stickman on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @01:08AM (#49888525)
that was surprisingly fun lol. buttery smooth in browser too!
Re:Claude Opus 5.5 on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @03:26AM (#49812772)
what harness do you use? I do want to try out deepseek but don't know what the equivalent of codex/claude code is here
Re:Claude Opus 5.5 on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @03:25AM (#49812759)
been using it for half a day now. the token spend is noticeably less.
Re:Why MCP Was Always a Bad Idea on Monday September 21, 2026 @02:06AM (#49783556)
MCP is a more controlled environment than yoloing an access token. Article missed the point entirely.
ok finally. the article made little sense
Why is this 'flagged'?
Re:Stop Making TUIs on Friday August 28, 2026 @03:25AM (#49475458)
TUIs are fantastic. The mere fact that they're lightweight and keyboard oriented is alone to want more of them.
Re:Felony Bench on Saturday August 22, 2026 @03:51AM (#49397578)
click baity title aside, grok should be #1 by a wide margin
Re:Linux 7.3 improves performance when running out of vRAM on Thursday August 20, 2026 @12:20PM (#49376732)
I'm on Ubuntu 26.04 and I feel it's made substantial improvements in that regard compared to 24.04. It does kill the offending process (well, its best guess at it) before it freezes for good.
Re:Quake Shareware, a CD-ROM just a little too full on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @08:48AM (#49360880)
reading this was a trip down the memory line
is this satire...
since you seem to know better, id like to know on which dimensions you think canada is doing any better than usa in the past 10-15 years as whole, or even versus other g7.

general employment? youth employment? labor participation? happiness index? gdp per capita? patents per capita? skilled migration? housing affordability? general inflation? stock market performance? real wages? housing burden? life satisfaction? growth of small business? startup echo system?

some it seems like you're implying that canada is doing better than the usa. just look at the last 10 years of real gdp growth and it couldn't be any worse for canada.
Re:Replacing the Kobo Libra H2O Battery on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @07:24AM (#49167046)
I wish repairing stuff was a bit more accessible to the average person.
I cannot think of too many things worse than being forced into a 'company retreat' where you have to spend even more time with people that you already see most in your life.
I made an extension that does exactly this a while ago

I made an extension that opens both tabs for you and thus far has a whopping 6 users!

Re:What xAI's Grok Build CLI Actually Sends to xAI on Monday July 13, 2026 @11:42PM (#48902039)
This is the way.

For CC I have a template here https://kaveh.page/blog/claude-code-sandbox

Re:What xAI's Grok Build CLI Actually Sends to xAI on Monday July 13, 2026 @11:42PM (#48902038)
The only way is to make sure your AI cannot possibly read what it's not supposed to. For CC, I have a bubblewrap that has been effective:
