You could easily write the same article about single threaded programming.
Re:Dwarf Fortress is coming to Steam with graphics on Wednesday March 13, 2019 @02:35PM (#19381923)
Awesome! Also do you happen to know if it's coming to Linux too?
Re:Dwarf Fortress is coming to Steam with graphics on Wednesday March 13, 2019 @01:40PM (#19381279)
I wish they would release on gog too, but I guess that kind of loses the benefits of the steam workshop. Maybe an independent mod manager?

Uh... Harry Potter and the Prisoner of AGPL is more like it
Re:DTrace on Windows on Monday March 11, 2019 @03:30PM (#19362009)
Didn’t know any of that. Thanks!
I really hope that is somehow Microsoft’s gameplan. Otherwise how on earth did they justify abandoning mobile phones. I mean some of their stuff was amazing (zune), and usually I am not a fan.

wow I feel like an idiot, thank you.

Disclaimer: I am an idiot on this subject

I recently found out that you can’t easily spawn a shell and then send commands to it. It’s doable with tmux commands, but you’d think it would be easier. I just wanted to write something that locates npm/virtualenv stuff in bash, nothing fancy.

Re:Lambda Cube on Tuesday March 05, 2019 @11:20AM (#19311548)
Thank you, I never knew how ignorant I was about that.
Re:Lambda Cube on Tuesday March 05, 2019 @10:23AM (#19311065)
"Each dimension of the cube corresponds to a new way of making objects depend on other objects"

Is it normal to refer to data structures as objects? Just to my knowledge most typed languages abhor the awesome potential of object-oriented programming, like the CLOS.

Exactly!

The level of productivity we could have would enormous if we just focused on cutting out inessential tasks at the source instead of the periphery. I have been trying to promote the idea of neural ablation in company forever, but my boss just keeps moving me to darker parts of the building.

Ada is a positevly amazing language. The only real complaint that can be made about it is the dearth of libraries/non-existent package management and the weird FSF vs. AdaCore compiler licensing issues.
This seems like a misunderstanding more than anything else. The cofounder of IP3 is a four star general in the US Army.

I can’t wait for some eDRAM to act as my L4 cache and finally start addressing the von Neumann bottleneck.
What is wrong with saying that McDonalds has baristas?
Re:Talos – A modern Linux distribution for Kubernetes on Friday February 15, 2019 @06:14PM (#19175639)
Or the Talos Principle, which along with Soma and the Portal series are some of the worlds best games.
I will not accept them influencing our affairs with their dirty money that they earned from being used as our slave labor. When will they learn their place?
Actually companies throw fits when the government contributes to open-source, especially when it comes to lucrative defense related stuff [0].

Does anyone know of a book that has information like this (about technical aspects of the Cold War)?
Re:Twitter migrates data to Google Cloud on Wednesday January 23, 2019 @04:30PM (#18983203)
Yeah bump. I rarely read about people not liking GCP (aside from their customer service of course) but would love to hear any issues you may be having.

Next you’ll tell me email isn’t encrypted.
There is a really good book on the US reaction: “R&D Collaboration on Trial”[0].

The real issue imho is that there is no shared sales information. So you advertise BMWs to people who may have already purchased a car. I think that is a bigger issue.
