Seems like a bug on the tv part then. They should delay audio accordingly to the lag.
I wonder what will be the first year when most of the meaningful comments on hacker news will be AI generated.

Hold on, Christianity states that everyone is intrinsically valuable, that everyone is made in the image of God and we are children of God. At least it is my understanding.

Actually we may need a lot more "art directors" than we have today, especially if they are to direct AI. At least temporarily, until they get AIed as well.

The best artists will thrive, I am not so sure about the rest. It seems very likely that the simple graphic jobs will be taken over by AI.
Re:Paul Graham is leaving Twitter on Sunday December 18, 2022 @03:18PM (#34042625)
Please explain what "smarter than eight billion people" mean? What is the smartness of eight billion people, is it some new aggregate? Do you sum it or get the mean? Are eight billion people by default always right? I am curious how it can make sense.
So, money is equal to stolen time in you view. So if I work and get paid I am a thief. It makes little sense. When I get paid I can use this money to buy someone else labor. It is a medium of exchange and it is indicator of value that I generate. In the free market place, by default, you must generate or promise to generate value to get paid.
It is an interesting theory, can you back it up? And what do you mean by exploiting?
You can view PDF files in most Internet browsers.

It is a generous assumption that the intention of these guidelines is to improve.
Re:Twitodon: Finding Twitter Peers on Mastodon on Monday October 31, 2022 @05:03AM (#33403436)
If you are the richest man on earth and are attacked by political elites how would you defend yourself? Mind that they control, to some extent, media and institutions. There are things beyond money.
Re:Twitodon: Finding Twitter Peers on Mastodon on Monday October 31, 2022 @04:39AM (#33403312)
Why do you feel a need to defend political propaganda? Did you not just try to show that it is instrumental? If anything I guess you agree that there is this top down attack on Musk. Well, he became so influential that shady political interests are in play.
Re:Twitodon: Finding Twitter Peers on Mastodon on Monday October 31, 2022 @03:32AM (#33402936)
I would rephrase it to "political propaganda machine dislikes and distrusts Musk". It is telling that Tesla was not invited to the EV summit or that or was removed from S&P 500 ESG.
In reply I would ask them "so you think hiding passwords is wrong?" And also "so no one should share secrets with you because you cannot keep them?"
Re:Tibia is adding sound to the game after 25 years on Saturday September 24, 2022 @06:31AM (#32961267)
I remember that dying in this game is extremely stressful. Moreso than in any other game I played. Each death removes the XP from your character often equivalent to XX hours of effort to level up. And it is not that hard to die, so you have to put a lot of attention in what you are doing and it creates an illusion of importance. It is very addictive. I do not recommend it.
Re:FTC to crack down on companies taking advantage of gig workers on Saturday September 17, 2022 @05:03PM (#32881558)
I think you brought up some interesting points. You increased the complexity of the model by adding new dimensions. But you did not explain how including these would change the conclusion. Does assuming the switching cost makes a gig work opportunity a net negative for those seeking a job? The pros and cons should be quantified somehow, but that is probably almost impossible to do. In that case I am inclined to make sure as many people as possible have the opportunity to work, since I believe that not being able to be a productive member of a society is very bad for a man.
Re:USB 4 version 2 promises 80 Gbps speeds over existing cables on Thursday September 01, 2022 @08:43PM (#32685281)
It has nothing to do with who invented the connector. The question is why it is dominantly used without being forced upon the users by regulations.
Re:USB 4 version 2 promises 80 Gbps speeds over existing cables on Thursday September 01, 2022 @07:43PM (#32684832)
What about RJ45? Why it did not require any bureaucratic regulations to become the standard connector in network devices? I am convinced the less regulation in trivial matters the better.
Re:Ask HN: Boring but important tech no one is working on? on Friday August 26, 2022 @08:25PM (#32614329)
This. Do the most valuable thing you can. If repairing provides significantly less value than your other work, do not repair. It is great that we can afford so much stuff now. Thanks to it we can spend more time on helping the environment.
I doubt that using a foreign language is in the spirit of the law. Does anyone know a case where trolling was effective in this manner?
Re:A 14kb page can load much faster than a 15kb page on Thursday August 25, 2022 @06:00AM (#32591642)
"b" in kb means bits. While the uppercase letter "B" denotes bytes. There is almost an order of magnitude difference between these two units! Usually 1B = 8b.
Does it mean that gzip is a legacy compression than should be replaced with zstd where possible?
