REEL | Multiple positions | Santa Monica, CA | Onsite We're a small but fast growing fintech startup looking for the following positions: * Junior Front-end dev (react/redux, vue, angular experience is nice) * Lead Fullstack developer (node/react/AWS knowledge) * UI/UX expert to help us evolve our product's UX. * Product Manager to look for ways to identify features customers would like and the like (should have worked on a successful product in the past)

On the tech side we user serverless to deploy lambda functions to AWS, all microservices are in node, some are typescript, others ES6 - looking to standardise this. We lean pretty heavily on AWS from a devops perspective. Since we're a team of 8 so far, there are lots of opportunities to work with ML/BI data analysis (Periscope), product enhancements, pretty much we're a very open company to all ideas.

Email me at [email protected] if interested, remember this is on-site in santa monica, california only full time.

Top of Mind - REMOTE We're a rapidly growing CRM company adding...

3 UI Engineers (heavy angular, javascript, highcharts, sass, gulp, bootstrap, etc), decent design skills, demonstrable examples of UI/UX we can see.

3 ASP.net Engineers (Web API 2, C#, azure workers, queuing), knowledge of Entity Framework 6 code first or other ORM's is key, service/repository patterns, all the other basic stuff you'd expect. We're 100% utilizing Azure services in every way that makes sense for us. the more we use them the more impressed we are with the offering.

We're only 4 months into development of this greenfield dev project so as a member of our engineering team you'd have the ability to drive technical direction across the API or UI, whichever you prefer. Junior or senior level, doesn't matter, we just want smart people that want to be a long-term team member.

Also looking for two test engineers, one on the JS side (protractor/karma) and one on the .net (nUnit) to help us build out solid e2e test test automation for our code-base and expand on our unit test coverage.

Remember these are full-time positions, no contractors looking for a couple weeks of work until their next gig comes around. Your location is irrelevant, just as long as you get your work done. Good salary, bonuses, random perks.

Fun small engineering team with a stable company. We all work remote and communicate primarily on slack/screenhero (when screenhero isn't flaking out). We do occasional company sponsored meetups, just got back from a conference in vegas last week. lot of fun.

Email me at [email protected] (i'm in charge of the engineering team) if you want to talk about joining the team!

I've been using Azure Websites to host 10 web apps monitoring with nodeping and have not had noticeable downtime in 2014. Maybe it's just their IaaS and not the PaaS
Re:Show HN: Noteblur – Recurring meeting tracking made easy on Monday January 05, 2015 @07:38AM (#8838452)
This is still in Beta but i've been developing it on and off for a few months. Over the weekend I think I finally got it to the point where i'm comfortable making it public. Any feedback/criticism on features, usability or design would be welcome!
Re:ESnext – Tomorrow’s JavaScript syntax today on Sunday October 12, 2014 @09:43AM (#8445246)
While this is interesting, i'd still think that Typescript is a better choice to use ES6 features that will work with legacy ES engines.

Re:Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute? on Monday July 14, 2014 @09:45PM (#8034302)
Thanks everyone -- I knew engaging a lawyer was the next step after the CEO was non-responsive but having other tech professionals and entrepreneurs chime in with some insight was very valuable. Thank you all for your interest and advice.
Re:Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute? on Monday July 14, 2014 @09:35PM (#8034283)
Because the contract stated that upon employment there would be a grant of 5000 shares that would vest annually or in a liquidity event would vest immediately, with no mention of forfeiture. Valuation is hard to determine since the former CEO is non-responsive, all I know is others with the same equity position received significant payouts.
Re:Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute? on Monday July 14, 2014 @09:23PM (#8034236)
Just shares, no mention of options. Yeah if it were options i'd see an issue with not exercising before the liquidity event.
Re:Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute? on Monday July 14, 2014 @09:16PM (#8034205)
I wasn't sure about the jurisdiction so I was focusing on VA based attorneys but it wouldn't hurt to speak with an NC based one as well, thank you.
Re:Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute? on Monday July 14, 2014 @09:12PM (#8034187)
based on what my former co-workers got paid it is definitely worth the cost of a lawyer.
Re:Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute? on Monday July 14, 2014 @09:06PM (#8034165)
i'm located in north carolina, company is in VA, the company that acquired them has several international offices, not sure where they're based out of yet.

Re:Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute? on Monday July 14, 2014 @08:28PM (#8034039)
Any thoughts on what kind of attorney handles these kinds of disputes? labor law? contract law? having trouble finding the right kind of lawyer.
Re:Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute? on Monday July 14, 2014 @08:27PM (#8034037)
sorry for the confusion, company was located in a different location and I worked remote for 3 weeks until I could move. should have cleared that up.
Re:Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute? on Monday July 14, 2014 @08:15PM (#8034002)
I'm happy to post excerpts of my employment contract if it would help the community gauge the situation.

Ask HN: How should I handle an equity dispute?

I worked for a company that offered 5000 shares upon signing the employment agreement that vest at 20% a year. After I was employed for a year and 25 days the company decided to relocate and lay off some employees. There was no equity forfeiture clause in the contract in the event of termination. Furthermore the contract stated that in the event of a liquidity event all shares vest...

Looking at the site and knowing a lot custom website development - I cannot see why this site would cost $500k other than the obvious answer, that it is state government willing to pay $500k for a $50k website.
Re:Ask HN: Local vs. remote salary gap on Tuesday July 01, 2014 @06:10PM (#7973794)
I make the same remote as I did as an in-house senior developer. But I will note that when I was interviewing for remote opportunities I came across a lot of cases where the salary was different for remote and on-site employees. Even signing bonuses of $10k or so to come in and work from the office.
