Modern capitalism, basically.
No-one is going to listen to an audiobook made with this. It's still fundamentally just TTS.
It is good when people lose their jobs, actually!

AI tools aren't people. We don't have to treat them the same.

Not just immoral and reprehensible, the campaigns of targeted harassment they undertake limit the victims' speech. If you care about people being able to freely express themselves, today is a good day. I don't know why the free speech defenders miss this (I do know).

Re:On Web3 Infrastructure on Monday January 10, 2022 @11:19AM (#29877108)
If we call all that stuff web 4, maybe people will lose interest in "web 3".
Because """software engineering""" is a joke.
How do you strip the DRM, is there a FOSS tool for this?

Re:Craft – A fresh take on documents on Friday December 25, 2020 @06:28AM (#25535859)
The conventional wisdom was that accessibility was something worth caring about.
I don't use Facebook much any more but a lot of the noise on there can be blocked (the ads which are conveniently labelled as sponsored, and "suggested for you").

They've seemingly gone out of their way to make this difficult by putting each letter of "Sponsored" in its own div, but you can make a filter based on the aria-label instead.

Account is over two years old but this is your first comment?
Where can one track the mining (issuing?) of Tether?
"This paper investigates whether Tether, a digital currency pegged to the U.S. dollar, influenced Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency prices during the 2017 boom. Using algorithms to analyze blockchain data, we find that purchases with Tether are timed following market downturns and result in sizable increases in Bitcoin prices. The flow is attributable to one entity, clusters below round prices, induces asymmetric autocorrelations in Bitcoin, and suggests insufficient Tether reserves before month‐ends. Rather than demand from cash investors, these patterns are most consistent with the supply‐based hypothesis of unbacked digital money inflating cryptocurrency prices."

LiPo is a type of Li-ion battery and they have much the same safety characteristics. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are much safer, they don't tend to run away.
