I have often wonder, if Oracle is interested in selling ownership of mySQL, dtrace, Solaris and ZFS.
I mean it is not like oracle sit there and other companies do all the work. They do employ a lot of people contributing to the JVM ecosystem whether you hate them or not. So credit where credits due.
I think, and correct me if I am wrong. Nvidia's OpenRAN on CUDA and its CPU platform along with Nokia's OpenRAN solution working with SoftBank in Japan has proved to be an actual competitive and viable solution to other commercial offering.

Do we expect to see more of these or are there caveats that they are not saying.

Re:Ask HN: Which TV do you recommend for privacy? on Monday November 02, 2026 @10:13AM (#50337896)
Sony Bravia TV and Panasonic.

Panasonic is decent but the problem is their presence around the world is spotty. I think they only decide to reenter US market and Panasonic the parent company has been thinking about ditching its TV business for a long time already.

My only hesitation with Sony is that they will form a JV with TCL next year.

Otherwise I wouldn't trust LG, Samsung, HiSense, TCL or Vizio.

I wonder if the same is happening with mySQL? And if any of these would means OrioleDB takes a lot longer to be integrated?
I remember reading something about it on BBC, how over processed American Wheat ( or food in general ) leads to those symptoms and they can eat European products and bread just fine.
I am having a hard time trying to grasp some of these numbers. 38.3 M, Millions developers in US ? That is one in 10 in US are developers?

And that percentage is similar in UK.

I have much more faith in an electrical engineer than the rest of the academics. Especially sociologist and economists.

H.264 High Profile is close to Patent Free. [1] I often wonder how much more efficiency could we get if we were to increase block size outside of spec.

Am I correct to assume all these grid batteries are all made in China as well?
I would assume it has something to do with fire hazard ?
They went from 65 Million monthly in 2024 to 7.4B ?

Holy Crap that is 100x increase. No wonder why they can't keep up.

It is part of Office 365 ( or whatever they are calling it now ) subscription and apart from coding, it is literally forced into everyone's throat in Fortune 500 for day to day task.

>Why is it normal that regular people would have to sell their homes just to have a prayer of paying their minimum

Because that is not normal and shouldn't happen either. And I dont understand why this is used as an example.

I dont expect normal people to have to sell their stock. Nor do I believe in tax on asset for anyone. Capital Gain Tax should just be Income tax.

This thesis assumes all billionaires are holding on to companies that "has power on par with most nation states".

In reality majority of billionaires are in industries and companies that does not even remotely have the same benefits or power.

Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @03:39PM (#50279701)
Same here. I couldn't understand it until like you and the comments before, saw younger generation all thought screens by default should be touchable, and other people casually scroll on the display and then return to keyboard for typing.
Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @03:35PM (#50279641)
Not sure why this is downvoted but it is a valid concern. I will wait and see some thermal testing as someone mentioned on new cooling design which I can't find on the page just yet.

Do they have the same OLED? Same PPI? Same Tandem OLED? The First Tandem OLED on PC only came in 2022 IRRC, and laptop in 2024 / 2025.

Switching to OLED in 2016 makes zero sense when brightness and burn in issues are not solved.

Re:Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5 on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @07:38AM (#50271961)
Why did they do that? Any ideas?
I hope I am wrong but still dont see any major breakthrough in near future we could bring the BOM cost of DRAM down to below $1/GB. Not even 4F^2 would do that.
