Re:Never Trust what Recruiters Say

Fits my experience. I got a callback from a recruiter and he wanted me to drive about 30 min to talk to him. Needing work, I agreed. During the "interview" it was obvious that he just wanted me there to mine me for my contracts at some of the larger companies I worked at. I left extremely annoyed since I traveled there at my own expense and they had nothing for me. To this day I won't return phone calls or emails from that place.

I wish more companies knew what they really wanted before asking people to come in. I am at the point where I am getting sick of sitting through three hours of clown questions that having nothing to do with the type of coding that I would use in production only to find out weeks later that it was all a waste because I am not what they were looking for. I understanding perfectly that I will not always be a good fit for the job, but go bother someone else if you want someone to jump through three levels of interviews only to decide that you want a different skill set.
PS Thanks for indulging me in this rant. This just happened last week and I am still a bit annoyed that I wasted that much time at a company only to find they wanted someone with a completely different skill set (ie RPG).

Can you buy a legal copy of the Mac OS to run on a VM without buying any Mac hardware?

Sexual Harassment is a problem, but I am not convinced that a card system is the way to solve it. If a woman is being a jerk at a conference does that mean I can card her? I was just reading of a top official (a women)in the US government who is accused of sexual harassment of her subordinates. Any sort of rules that favor one sex over another will be used to do just that. I am a big fan of codes of conduct at conferences. If someone violates them (be male or female) they are tossed out, period.

I am thinking of ways to convince my boss to do this. It might work better if I attempt to convince him in the middle of a cold Midwestern winter.
