These were 1852 seconds well spent. If you don't hate clickers, try this one, it was definitely made with love.

Ask HN: Good small LLM model for generating Chinese sentence examples?

I'm trying to find a model which can generate Chinese sentence example for a given word, providing pinyin and English. The model should be small. Ideally 3-4B, definitely not more than 8-9B.Gemma3 4B sentences are often weird, and pinyin is plain wrong.GLM-4-0414 9B sentences are way better and pinyin is good, but it's not perfect either.Llama 3 8B is just bad.

Re:Google Chrome Web Store, screw you on Thursday August 19, 2021 @11:26AM (#28235058)
It won't solve the problem. What if I already have 10 apps and want to submit the 11th one?

What about the three-fingers gesture? It seems more convenient than a standard touch-and-hold.

+1. Any tap should be visible immediately, and any operation that takes more than 2-3 seconds should display a loader.

Ask HN: What do you hate the most in mobile apps?

Which user scenarios drive you mad?For example, I have a 6.6" phablet, which I often use with a single hand when I walk. It's comfortable to look at the top part of the screen. However, it's much more comfortable to use the bottom part of the screen. That's why I love every app which considers this "single-hand" scenario and places inputs to the bottom. Also, what do you like the most? Like...

Re:Smokers quit in record numbers amid Covid fears on Thursday July 16, 2020 @09:29AM (#23858746)
I was heavy weed smoker for 4 years. After (supposedly) getting COVID-19 about 2 months ago, I stopped smoking, and 2 weeks after recovery started to smoke again.

However, something have changed and I feel like I'm going to die while I'm high, it's hard to breathe and feel my body isn't as healthy as it was before. I feel more or less ok while I'm sober, though.

Decided to quit yesterday and today I see this article. "Yeah, this is the moment".

So I think some people stopped smoking not because they're afraid of COVID, but because they feel worse now.

I missed Shift+Option fine control and didn't know that. Thank you!

Actually you can memorize unlimited number of shortcuts. I remember roughly 500 shortcuts for different programs and OS, it's just a matter of time. As touch typing, this investment pays off very satisfactory over time

You can turn on F keys for displaying in Touch Bar
Re:Sampler for Mac Touchbars on Saturday July 11, 2020 @12:42PM (#23803442)
Also you can make shortcut for "Customize Control Bar...", it helps to quickly adjust Touch Bar in new program or for experimenting
Don't forget about cloud. Photos, notes, etc can be seen by anyone who knows credentials used on corporate devices.
CleanMyMac helps a little bit.
