The Tesla Model S, in its main US market, is the leader in the luxury car market. Model 3 is the #1 selling car by revenue.
Production is limited to 2 US factories. Worldwide numbers go up fast when they have a Euro factory, Chinese factory, etc.
> GM turned a loss selling nine million vehicles or so, opening a whole line to enter a market which is moving just one million units or so competing with players like Tesla that operate at almost a loss make zero sense.
And yet they are doing it.
There is a reason GM, Audi, Daimler etc are shifting to electric vehicles.
Model S delivered, Model X delivered, Model 3 delivered, etc.
Dyson is moving away from solid state batteries. No one has been able to make them work at scale. https://electrek.co/2018/02/15/dyson-all-electric-vehicles-s... (FT article behind paywall)

Not to mention half of all households in the US have a Prime membership at roughly $99/yr. Allows them to leverage in to video, music, etc with a different value/cost model than Netflix for example.
Not bad compared to the $12 billion cost for the GM bailout and $4 billion+/yr for oil & gas subsidies.
I probably won't do Austin again.
Tesla isn't playing Ford's game. The ultimate value of TSLA is in the vertically integrated electric Tesla Network with millions of level 5 self-driving vehicles.
Why would you want an ICE vehicle when you can own a Tesla that drives you & your family anywhere you want, charges itself and makes you money on the side. Closely following that...why own a car at that point? Just order one up off the Tesla Network.
Model S tops out at $160k, S class at ~$250k w/ a S65 or technically a Maybach.
Interior and luxury the S class wins for sure. Performance and tech the Tesla wins.
