I wrote two mails yesterday which basically "push back against upper management", for a very good reason. At least that's what I think. Now I'm totally terrified about what will happen tomorrow. I have 4 kids and almost no money in the bank.

It's used a lot since there are lots of legacy apps written in Delphi. You can't throw away hundreds of thousands or more lines of code just because Delphi "went out of fashion" (I know the situation is more complex than that, though).

We used EurekaLog (https://www.eurekalog.com/) to get nice exceptions and stack traces, even for access violations :) Imagine that: you have a native app, but you also have stack traces like in C# and Java.
I loved to use Delphi in the early- and mid-2000s, but unfortunately Delphi jobs disappeared, and I had to switch to C# and Java development.

At my company they are changing open offices to open offices with shared desks. At least if you cannot stand it, you are allowed to work from home. Cheap, cheaper, cheapest -- for the company.
The fun part is when starry eyed managers are talking about this "upgrade", and call it "Future Work" project as if it was something great and innovative.
As Joel said, if you want to sell something, "take the most unfortunate truth about it, turn it upside down, and drill that lie home". http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/fog0000000054.html

Great idea! It'd also be great if someone created hackernewspapers.com too. There are so many great papers mentioned on HN. Since most links point to pdf files, it'd be possible to collect the pdfs on the same site (if there's no copyright violation).

Pascal is not dead. Lots of Windows applications have been written in Delphi (Object Pascal), and these will require maintenance. Or a rewrite in C#.
