Maybe the UI put people off? idk because this seems cool as well.
very interesting to see
Re:Wine Ported to OpenBSD on Monday October 19, 2026 @03:16PM (#50156707)
Impressive! Wonderful to see that the BSDs are getting love these days.
Very cool to see, and I'm curious if they'll start logging where Axion cams are next (if DeFlock doesn't already have Axion cameras logged). Also like how MapQuest doesn't lock multiple destinations behind needing an account, at least for the desktop version.
Re:Wayland desktop for Linux with skeuomorphic design on Thursday October 15, 2026 @12:12PM (#50105802)
Very interesting concept but I doubt it's stable due to the amount of slopped code and I don't like that it requires a hodgepoge of libraries from different DEs.
Re:Felix Rieseberg Homepage on Thursday October 15, 2026 @11:42AM (#50105316)
Disable javascript and you'll be redirected to the static version.
Wouldn't it be better to start focusing energy onto projects like PostmarketOS (now Nura)? Sure the Linux phone space on the hardware side is a bit barren, but there are options and you don't really need top of the line specs to get something working; you could even use an SBC with a cellular modem peripheral to have a cellphone replacement.
Re:IRCv3 on Sunday October 11, 2026 @07:45PM (#50049357)
The biggest "issue" I have with IRCv3 is that /chathistory hasn't been ratified yet, requesting the last 10-30 messages from the server logs should be fairly trivial to implement. Yeah bouncers exist but I'm honestly too lazy to set one up and I don't want my computer running 24/7 just to store random IRC messages.

Then again the culture is different with IRC versus other platforms and people adapt with not having a full chat history, so dunno if this is an actual issue in the long run.

Re:Theranos.World on Thursday October 08, 2026 @05:09PM (#50012325)
As someone who only knows Theranos by the creepy lady and that they did some scam this is very interesting. Only critique is that it calls Twitter X, which isn't historically accurate.

EDIT: uhh I thought the movie signup thing was a gag, didn't know it was real. Sorry I guess.

partially agreee but also 90% of crypto is either inefficient (btc), for scams (shitcoins), or weird pseudo-CBDC garbage (xrp/ripple/chainlink/icp) that don't have a use case outside of "it'll pump when payment processors adopt us!". Monero is probably the only coin that didn't get sucked into the post 2017 cryptobro mentality of "making it rich" and instead stayed the course of giving payment processors the finger.
> How many services take Monero? It also does not solve your health insurance being taken away.

Not much outside of drugs iirc but I'm hoping this serves as a major wake up call for people.

That's a CBDC, not really comparable to Monero.
Monero solves this btw.
This has been known for years, but it's good to see that more people are picking up to the fact.
Re:My practical approach to surfing the web safely on Monday September 07, 2026 @07:55PM (#49604250)
If they have a systemD-less version I'd seriously consider using it.

Librewolf (sometimes Palemoon) + Ublock origin to disable Javascript. Many websites work a lot faster as well.

>Then, to fix it, we'll need a massive Direct Air Capture industry that will have to operate for a century, and probably past that so we can hit and maintain a CO2 level of 250ppm.

Removing CO2 from seawater would be more efficient because some of the work is already done for you, and you'd be de-acidifying the ocean long term.

Re:How much of HN is AI? on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @12:57PM (#49437137)
Having a set of tag presets would help somewhat for filtering.
Re:Jabber/XMPP: 25 Years of Digital Independence on Monday August 24, 2026 @12:53PM (#49422570)
Its biggest issue is adoption because it's very solid otherwise and even supports stuff like screen sharing.

Copper sells over $6 per pound these days: https://www.kitco.com/price/base-metals/copper

Re:Linux on ESP32 on Sunday August 02, 2026 @12:09PM (#49145814)
Good to know.
Re:NetBSD 11.0 on Saturday August 01, 2026 @02:44PM (#49137157)
Very nice, wonder what's the state of using NetBSD as a daily driver?
Re:Linux on ESP32 on Saturday August 01, 2026 @11:41AM (#49135378)
Looks interesting but wouldn't something like netBSD be a better fit?
Re:Bad Apple but It's Traceroute on Friday July 31, 2026 @10:01AM (#49123259)
What? How is Bad Apple sexual, all of the characters are doing something instead of just dancing around.
Re:Bad Apple but It's Traceroute on Thursday July 30, 2026 @10:27PM (#49118342)
Holy shit touhou
Thought about something similar a few months ago, love seeing it in action. The article was terrible however, dunno why every other sentence is bold. Genuenly feels like I'm reading a middle schooler trying to fulfill a word usage/sentience structure quota.
Re:OpenNode – Bitcoin Payment Processor on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @01:56PM (#49010776)
Does it support Monero?
