tornado cash?
edit: I suppose it would be hard still. You can get anonymity inside wallets with Tornado Cash but then to turn that into actual money it will be very dependent on the country
> For one, the engineer in India doesn't drive the demand for housing in Seattle thus keeping it more reasonably (less insanely) priced.
I urge you to understand that housing prices in Seattle are largely driven by supply inelasticity, more than anything.
If the premise was true, we'd have seen large drops in rent/home prices after mass layoffs (we didn't).
Also, it would be hard to explain the prices finally falling in Seattle for the last few months, which aligned perfectly with the largest supply since Feb 2014.
gemini app kind of had that for a while I feel?
Factor in their margin being chewed through with every open model release.
That spending obligation sounds extremely unlikely to be fulfilled without a bailout. Anthropic's IPO is them passing the hot potato forward.
most sociable redditor lol
being a bit more specific: the sample efficiency of humans is orders of magnitude larger for more abstract concepts. the same doesn't hold for memory-intensive tasks though (like any kind of trivia), but that only takes you so far.
Short and to the point! Open and cheap models will undercut the big labs continuously. The blast radius won't be pretty once spending commitments knock the door.
I'm gonna repeat my comment from months ago, still true
> Jesus Dario we get it man, you want clout for the IPO.
> It’s making me want to be a lot less collaborative with such individuals. I don’t want to sit around and refute Claude text outputs all day.
I echo the sentiment. It's frustrating to try to collaborate with a Claude/ChatGPT meat proxy.
You can write a very thoughtful two-line question over 5 minutes and get a 5 page design doc back in a minute.
the race for the smartest/cheapest model is a race to the bottom. selling the tools is much more profitable.
same. been running it in a dgx spark and it slaps
Jesus Dario we get it man, you want clout for the IPO.
This constant whining from anthropic about distillation attacks continues to be rich given the amount of stolen data that went into any Claude variant.
both companies have large spending commitments while their margins will be continuously wiped by open models / router-like solutions. both companies are rushing for ipo and doing an awful lot of financial engineering to look good (highly recommend ed zitrons analysis on anthropic profitability) before their margins are eroded that much.
feels almost like anthropic is desperate for ipo huh
i think we'll see one of the fastest deflations in history post anthropic/oai ipo
i mean you chose to be irritated by it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
if that was true, we'd see the same pedestrian mortality rise everywhere, which we don't.
misantropia é um perigo rapaziada
> I've got kids, I want people creating start ups they can work in, the alternative is too grim.
got some bad news for ya pal
that's just a lie lol, stop spreading misinformation
On the spot. A lot of replies in this thread which outline "useful" AI features fail to acknowledge the same: this is hackernews, and it's a very specific and non representative slice of the population.
This sounds like a fence sitter take. Everything is political and not acknowledging that is part of the problem.
ambrook is one of those doing the devil's work. critical small-medium agriculture infra picking a dependency in a venture backed NYC startup... sigh
my dream is that their lunch is eaten by oss
I guess mythos can't solve this one...
ah the distant past of writing services in clj and having a crazy good repl :)

That's a very plausible interpretation. I grew up hearing about this myth :p
yeah suddenly perna cabeluda was cool but it did feel a bit random :p
you're not factoring in a few specific things:
1) how many of these people leave the country in this analysis.
2) OPTs likely will get h1b/l1s/leave the country and are being counted distinctly.
3) not all h1b/l1/OPTs are for tech. majority for sure, but there's a conversation factor.
specially in the current situation that green cards are much harder to obtain and many OPTs don't find a job, I expect 1 to be much larger than in the past.
as a more general observation, this line of reasoning does fit lump of labor fallacies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lump_of_labour_fallacy
