Re:Hiring without whiteboards on Wednesday March 15, 2017 @10:22AM (#13876276)

Re:WhatsApp launches Status, an encrypted Snapchat Stories clone on Wednesday February 22, 2017 @09:03AM (#13705523)

Time to move to Signal I guess. Seems like they will turn WhatsApp into bloated mess like Facebook Messenger currently is.
Re:Bash and Windows Subsystem for Linux Demo [video] on Tuesday February 21, 2017 @10:21AM (#13696107)
IIRC WSL is still in beta.

Looks great!

I won't switch from Mac anytime soon, but competition is always good. Can't wait to see how Apple will respond to latest Microsoft actions (WSL, Surface Book and Surface Studio).

Hopefully they won't show ads in Messenger Lite.
Re:Dismissing Python Garbage Collection at Instagram on Wednesday January 18, 2017 @02:27PM (#13429493)
It does. They're profitable even with fairly small engineering team considering size of their user base.
Re:Dismissing Python Garbage Collection at Instagram on Wednesday January 18, 2017 @01:55PM (#13429163)
Why should they rewrite everything if it works for them?
Re:Telegram Desktop reaches version 1.0 on Thursday January 12, 2017 @06:59AM (#13381574)

Also Firefox for Android has ad blocking.

Re:Python 3.6.0 released on Friday December 23, 2016 @01:14PM (#13246257)
Does anyone know dev team plans for version 3.7?
Re:The Django Project Debates User Tracking on Saturday December 03, 2016 @02:20AM (#13094779)
You can easily replace template engine and ORM in Django when your project becomes large. I've personally made this several times.

I guess it was Dell Studio.
MBP is most widely used pro audio laptop. Some people I know do simple mixing without plugging an external audio interface, just using built-in audio. It seems that Apple does not care about those people anymore.

Re:Google+ Redesigned on Tuesday August 30, 2016 @02:14PM (#12392476)
I am sure Google has way more "unsexier" projects than G+.
Re:Looking ahead for WhatsApp on Thursday August 25, 2016 @02:08PM (#12361117)
They still do not have monetization strategy and chats are not encrypted by default.
Re:Looking ahead for WhatsApp on Thursday August 25, 2016 @02:07PM (#12361111)
I am not sure if Wire (another messaging app without clear monetization strategy) is better. We might end in the same situation in a few years.
Re:WhatsApp is going to share your phone number with Facebook on Thursday August 25, 2016 @11:04AM (#12359542)
They removed paid subscription several months ago. It seems that they can make more money from matching WhatsApp and Facebook social graphs than from annual subscription.
Re:Looking ahead for WhatsApp on Thursday August 25, 2016 @08:40AM (#12358525)
Time to use something else...
