Anyone else consistently get Error 404?
Ushering in the Silk Road 2.0 haha
That's very cool and something I'd love to do for my son! What environment were you working with and are any of your games avail online?
I think this is amazing. I work in the construction sector and there are so so so many small one-man tradesperson companies that need to know about this.
There was a virtual platform through which to learn Chinese called ‘Zon’. Someone obviously put years of work into it but no one ever joined and it turned into this great looking ghost town.
https://ieltsielts.com/I build simple speech shadowing exercises that help people train for IELTS Speaking. The project makes more than $500/month.
Asking the real questions here.
I got that ‘Google has been talking about Willow for ages, this isn’t new’ blah blah blah. The problem is the public only started talking about it yesterday.
Wow I love both Synecdoche and Blue Velvet! What didn’t you like about Blue Velvet?
Thanks! Those thoughts are super helpful~

Saw Rob Walling was on Indie Bites this week (SFTROU is my other fav startup podcast), and this prompted me to re-listen to some of my favourite IH episodes.I know the IH podcast is pretty popular with this community, so I’m just curious which episodes are your favourites?
Thank you for the suggestion. I am interested in modern China, so I might check it out. Just curious about the ‘lack of education on how to raise babies’ - sounds a bit subjective. I mean, plenty of those babies seem to excel when transferred to environments that provide them with better opportunities.
I really enjoyed that book and how it attempts to simplify the nature of common supply chain constraints.
You probably know this already, but if not: Eli Goldratt (the guy that wrote that book) wrote an equally brilliant academic paper on the same subject - I think the title was ‘Standing on the shoulders of giants’. Just passing it on in the event you’re looking for a good follow-up read.
Cool idea for a thread.
I’m still building https://www.ieltsielts.com/ which offers original resources and coaching for an English language proficiency exam called the IELTS. It makes over $500 USD per month.
I built a ‘phone book’ of sorts for QR codes, where people could upload any QR code they wanted and tack on a Google friendly description. My main motivator was to allow for more transparency and cross connectivity among WeChat groups, but the only one that was enthusiastic about the project was me. The URL is wodeqr.com (Chinese for ‘my QR’), but I think today the domain is some spammy nest of filth. I don’t even want to type it into my browser.
Could I shamelessly post a link to my accent training YouTube channel? The whole channel is devoted to language development through speech shadowing exercises. These exercises will help you do some accent training on your own:

Isn’t this what BitClout is trying (unsuccessfully so far) to do? I think the concept is interesting.
You say you’re not interested in cloud based solutions, but I think this is at odds with any practical way through which to share files. Here’s what I do:
I divide my life into a core four DropBox folders, so one for family, work, projects and education. Work and projects contain folders labelled by year, which lets me access time sensitive stuff pretty quickly. I’m always learning, so the education folder is subdivided into topics and I dump cool articles and links in there.
To find what I need, I do a lot of general querying. I used to keep separate external HDs for stuff, but I’ve just found this adds complexity I don’t need, and in one case an HD went dead and I lost a bunch of important photos. I’ve used the DropBox approach now for seven years and have lost nothing.
My wife and I have DropBox on all our devices, so we can access anything at anytime and photo synching is automatic. We also a have synced SimpleNote account on our phones where we collaborate in real-time on grocery lists, plans, movie lists (we chalk up anything we hear of and want to see), and recipes. Plans with other couples are done through a bunch of dedicated Whatsapp groups, which I’m not a huge fan of but we have yet to find something better.
Important physical documents are scanned (stored in ‘Family’ folder somewhere) and the docs themselves are filed in a filing cabinet. We have a safety deposit box for paper walleted crypto, historic family documents and physically small historic family heirlooms.
YouTube can be a great tool for this. Just make some videos about your niche and then post a video asking viewers to participate.
Tapatalk strikes me as a brilliant idea ruined. I’m surprised nothing else came along to successfully bridge forums to mobile culture.
But I think when you extend the sample to the spectrum of all humanity (as the infographic does), $1 million USD becomes quite clearly a fitting benchmark of wealth.
I guess we're getting into semantics here, but I would imagine someone with a net worth above a million USD would be considered to have above average wealth in a majority of countries.
Good point. That's probably a significant portion of the number, yes.
Yeah you could be right, but it's like more than a thousand millionaires have left/are leaving in 2022.
There is an infographic floating around at the moment that maps the migration of millionaires in 2022. I have not dug through the data to see if everything in the infographic is accurate, but as I think most people would presume: it shows loads of wealth holders are making their way into the western world from Russia, China, India, Ukraine (you can predict the others net negative countries).
However what's got my mind going is that loads of wealth holders are also leaving the UK. What's this all about? Perhaps post Brexit jitters?
I mean, it doesn't really make me contemplate existence, but I guess I just didn't expect my lifetime to include a UK that's incapable of holding on to its wealthy citizens. (Maybe I'm overlooking an obvious explanation?)
Edit: a kind person in this thread found the image~ https://www.visualcapitalist.com/migration-of-millionaires-w...
Could UBI play a possible role?
I do from time to time if it's obvious it is not going to link to something embarrassing or malicious. For example, once in a while I get handed a business card or pamphlet for a person/service I've heard about and want to know more about. I will also occasionally scan QRs that appearing in streams with streamers I am familiar with. I guess it's mostly a question of my familiarity and trust level in the person posting it.
People that act like that are insecure and defensive about something. I'm constantly dealing with these types in my industry (education). It took me a long time to learn that this behaviour is almost never about you, so try not to take it personally.
