Hoopi Pedal: A 2-channel digital effects + recording pedal, based on the Daisy Seed and the ESP32 [1]. PCB design, embedded firmware, DSP and Flutter app - all are mine. Some technical notes on firmware (OTA updates, etc.) and Flutter app dev (using native methods for vidoe-audio sync, auto cross-correlation, etc.) are published on my blog [2].

A standalone audio processing engine + app with a web ui for the Raspberry Pi and other ARM based SBCs, that let's me use NAM models from tone3000 for guitar effects. Two channels with gains, noise gate, NAM, eq and reverb.

A web app for my music needs - metronome, ABC notation editor with MIDI playback and PDF render, an embedded YouTube video player with a chapter/section creator based on timestamps and a looping feature for the chapters for practicing

Offline first, everything is saved to Local Storage. Sharing is also purely serverless - the ABC text and the video chapter defs are shared via query parameters after compression and base64 encoding.

Tech: React, Material UI, ToneJS, ABCJS, CloudFlare (Pages, Workers, D1 Storage)

Next: Add an AI assistant to the ABC editor - editing ABC text gets painful fast.

iOS game to learn rhythm and drums [0]. It's MIDI based. Midi files to use as the tracks to practice on and Midi controllers to use as input. Here's a demo with my son on electronic drums [1]

Tech stack: Swift, UIKit, SpriteKit

Working on Symph (https://symphmusic.com), a web app for musicians that lets you synchronize measures/bars in a music score with timestamps in a YouTube video. Demo video: https://youtu.be/az6IENwtn78

It's like Songsterr, except you get to reuse your existing music scores (PDF/PNG/JPG). I am using a supervised ML model to auto-detect the music bars in the score.

Definitely interested in collaborating. My skillsets range from web (NextJS, React), React Native, native iOS, native Android, embedded systems (firmware and hardware).

I have a 12 year old autistic son. He attends ABA therapy. I am also looking to create tools and apps that can help him communicate better. Also, he's very musical, so I am looking at better ways to help him learn piano (he loves Simply Piano but I want something that let's me define a custom lesson plan based on MIDI files of songs he loves).

This is more problematic with the USCIS immigration helpline bot. You don't have the option to yake your business elsewhere.

Trying to get the phone bot to let me talk to a human at USCIS is like talking to the Avrona Kern AI from Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

Me: The typographic error submission site throws an error when I try to use it.

Avrona Kern: We have a website to submit typographic errors.

Avrona Kern: Would you like to receive the link via SMS or email?

Me: That site doesn't work! Agent.

Avrona Kern: Would you like to receive the link by SMS or email?

Me: Agent

Avrona Kern: I can help you.

Me: Agent

Avrona Kern: If you keep asking for agent I will end the call.

Me: Typographic site throws error

Avrona Kern: We have a website...

Me: FML

Googling revealed that there are some keywords that make Avrona give up and let me through. Not gonna reveal that here, in case they close those loopholes and some poor schmuck is left with no options.

This will be more relevant to the desis here. I am developing an audio quiz web app based on YouTube clips from Indian movies[0]. Films and songs have an interesting appeal to desis and I am trying to explore it with tech. Stack: NextJS and ReactJS

I use Netfliy and its Nextjs build plugin that automatically creates serverless functions for the api routes, does ssg and deploys. All under the free plan.

Very inspiring. Congrats! Can you talk a bit more on the EE consulting line item and the certifications for TinyPilot? I am trying to prototype my own hardware design[0] and would like to learn from your experience.

As a foreigner, gerrymandering[0] baffles me. Someone please explain how this makes sense?

RiffPod[1]. Hardware and app to enable wireless recording of guitar. 4 years of iterating through hardware versions to finally converge on a design that works[2].

Completely agree on the Simply Piano plus MIDI approach. My autistic son is musically inclined, can play piano by ear. We have struggled trying to get him formally trained to read music. Then we found Simply Piano. He's taken to it very well, treating it as a game. This is the only way we have managed to get him to read music. We use it in conjunction with a music teacher via Zoom. Here's a video of him playing https://youtu.be/NEa9X36e7Vo

Excellent points. Would love to chat some more (enclosure design, CE/FCC certs, etc.). I don't see an email in your profile. If you are open to discussion, please email me (my email is in my profile).

You guys rock. Been binge listening your podcast[1]. Currently on episode 257.

Very nice idea and execution.

Btw, how do you get the main product image url to display on your site? Is there an api for that?

Are you getting confused between the down arrow to down-vote and the [-] button to collapse? I am assuming there's a down arrow, since I don't have the privilege to down-vote :-)

Hello HN,

This is a side-project that I built. Took me around 3 months of evenings/weekends to get it to a decent stage where I could actually put it in front of users.

Happy to answer any questions.

Tech details:

Game is made with the Phaser[0] engine. Phaser has been a slick experience and the game works decently on Android, iOS and desktops. I used a decent TypeScript-Webpack-Phaser template[1] to get started.

Settings page[2] is an SPA, based on Angular 2. That's where the parent/teacher/adult can setup lesson plans by querying for images in Google Image Search and assigning a sentence to the selected image.

Hosting is on Firebase, as a static website.

Thanks for the feedback.

Do let me know how your son likes it.

An easy way to get a webpage's image/thumbnail. For e.g. get the the main product image from an Amazon URL.

Can you expand on this? What's use case?

Hey, awesome. Let me know what he thinks of it.

Update:

Glad he liked it :-) Now I have 2 satisfied customers.

BTW, you can create your own custom lesson plan by clicking the Settings button. That will take you to https://seentell.me/settings.

Hmm, this is going to get depressing. Oh well. Here goes.

I think my main problem is that I create solutions that are great for my problems.

Flaming Notes[0] - iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Web game to learn music notation. Total revenue: 10 USD over 2 years.

MelloNote[1] - Android app to sync audio files with text (lyrics, guitar chords, etc). Think 4-track subtitles that can be used by a band. Earnings: 6 USD in 1 year.

Tasktopus[2] - Desktop kanban app (Windows, Mac and Linux). Earnings: 500 USD in 1 year.

I completely agree on every point here. BTW, what training would you recommend for the management route?
