oh wow +1 for dev whispering skills
wow. i wonder if bezos is going to address this.
sv has a homogeneous culture builtin
> migrants who are already living abroad for a while feel a need to emphasize their born-in-to identity to counter the immigrated-into society
This is an important point. Going further, things like Trump brand politics of demonizing outsiders and newcomers fuels this need to emphasize born-in-identity.
why does it matter if the moonshot factory is getting products out the door or not?

if you're interested in this stuff, also check out "nsc 68", which is the actual policy material this stuff evolved into. then also the latest reincarnation of all this, "rebuilding america's defenses" by project for new american century.
i feel like they're trying to stay ahead by focusing sights on niantic before the public shows up at the telcos with pitchforks. lame overall.
is this bad because the police is becoming more like the military? since the military/cia robot bomb suspects on the daily.
i dont think hn can imagine that hard
i don't think its hard to imagine that a lot of people didn't have access to computers during their childhood. also there are lots of people that didn't have the right environment or parenting to name a few. since you mentioned "interests in technical subjects since childhood". i know the guy in the article mentions that he learned to computer from 18 on wards, also he went to MIT which i think says a lot about his childhood. maybe you think the word is ridiculous but i think there is room for more empathy.

Hi - Anyone on here work for Amazon or AWS and working operating systems / low level networking / virtualization type work?I've seen some job postings for os stuff but that was in Dresden and also some EC2 networking (VPC packet pipeline). Anyone here with any information about teams doing work at this layer? Also does anyone work with ECS (elastic container service)? Thanks
can't tell if you're trolling.
this reminds me of that white guy that was tweeting up a storm getting on a plane with his leatherman pocket knife thing and also exchanging lolstories with other white people about getting through airport security with questionable items.
i think "half the people" is an overestimate. i don't think most people learn integration in school. i'd be surprised if half learn differential calculus.
yes absolutely. this is a great idea. loan defaults by school would be an excellent indicator. more upvotes please.
it's these 'for profit college' they have to go. i suspect most are total trash. also - with all these coding bootcamps popping up nowdays, im not sure if people are able to get govt student loans for these or what but it sounds like trouble. ppl are desperate to jump on the coding gold rush and the great salaries and job market. ppl are going to get fucked over big time.
first time i saw this[0] all kinds of warning bells went off. im sure there is a way forward so that people can learn and share the value created from software development job market but i think we should move fwd carefully. ppl will definitely get fd over.
but yea most of those 'for-profit' colleges are totally shady.
do they have everest college in the US? perfect example of this kind of bs. in canada they got shut down, but not before screwing over tons of people out of their money for years[1].
