To be fair, I would have assumed that too. Occam's razor: in a sea of lying candidates, the next one is probably lying too.

Austism often comes with terrible proprioceptive abilities so it makes sense.
Re:Italy moves to reverse anti-nuclear stance on Tuesday March 04, 2025 @08:34AM (#43254339)
Where and when? For how long? Does it include dealing with wastes? Does it include powerlines, maintenance and land?

It's not a universal answer.

Re:That's now valid syntax in Python 3.13 on Friday October 25, 2024 @10:11AM (#41945495)
It passes ruff linting already.

I must say the walrus looks too much like a type hint where it's located for my taste.

Legality is not science, most of the time, the definition of what's wrong is blurry and humans have to debate about it.
Re:Debian Needs a WinGet on Tuesday June 11, 2024 @06:36AM (#40644638)
Thats what flatpak is for. And unfortunatly why ubuntu pushes for snap.
No totally related, but I noticed that a lot of people using VIM or keyboard only tool are oblivious to the cognitive load it takes on them.

You can see them struggling when doing simple things because they have to stop and remember what context they are in, what dynamic value they need to attach to their keyboard shortcuts (turns out muscle memory can help with fixed values, but not with buffer names and task numbers) and so on.

They will tell you it's vastly superior.

But the colleague that I see actually managing to pull it off are rare. Most are just slower for the same given micro-tasks.

Add on top to that they may rock a dvorak layout and an exotic distro, and they burn out quickly. And then wonder why.

Re:ChatGPT-4o – OpenAI's ickiest product yet on Tuesday May 14, 2024 @06:11AM (#40353504)
I automatically filter anything with the word "ick" or any derivative in it.

Because I systematically find that the analysis is immature and shallow.

I ignored my filter on this article.

And yet, the filter was right again.

Eggs are so versatile any replacement is bound to be very context specific.

But nutritionally speaking, I don't think we can find anything that compare. It's quite an amazing food.

Using a different set of libraries as dependencies.

Starlink works in those conditions, so maybe it's ok.
Re:Vue 2 is Approaching End Of Life on Saturday December 16, 2023 @10:05AM (#38664724)
Which is too bad because it was really the sweet spot for me.

Vue 3 bring my more complexity and not much more benefits.

IMO, alpine.js is the new Vue.

I will still use it over react if I'm building an SPA, but for small JS needs, it's not worth it.

Anyone must also accept their tos which is not great.
Like the twitter url right now.
Re:Get a Personal Teacher on Saturday July 01, 2023 @10:46AM (#36550683)
I've always wondered why I had a hard time finding a good mentor.

Now that I'm competent and experienced, I get it: I have no time to mentor people.

It has a python wrapper, albeit less full featured that jinja2 which is pure python.

Mini jinja also runs in wasm. Nice.

LWN is consistently good, I really should subscribe.
If they are private, yes. But in countries like France, they don't try to make money on health, and the goal is to get less people sick, not to milk them.
Re:Surprisingly good prompt inspiration for Stable Diffusion on Wednesday October 05, 2022 @03:05AM (#33092206)
Ok, there are 1000 of prompt makers out there so I wasn't expecting much.

I tried it and got:

"Orion is standing inside a magnificent temple, decorated with magical plants and trees, Atmosphere, Dramatic lighting, Epic composition, Wide angle, by Miyazaki, Nausicaa Ghibli, Breath of The Wild".

Wow, that's a great prompt, wasn't expecting that.

I tried it on midjourney and got this:

Given how little work it was, that's indeed super nice.

I wanted to say "too bad you can't use any params", but I guess sometimes less is more.

Re:Mona Lisa in pure CSS on Friday October 05, 2012 @06:17PM (#4618925)
A friend of the guy did even crazier, a animated nyan cat (including the annoying music) with only one html tag, and thousand lines of CSS ^^

http://codepen.io/JBay1337/pen/Ejtfl

Webkit only though

It started kinda supidly over a beer yesterday with the joconde guy, then one friend posted a 50 mo animated nyan cat, I posted a 22mo version, and we kept iterating until he won.

His last version is kinda smart: it uses css keyframes like divx use video keyframes, with diff in between. Almost the first css video codec :-p
