I don't feel bad for this guy - He says and does things regularly that are hurtful to society with no signs of becoming a better person.

Refuse to work for them because they aren't letting you do due diligence on the offer. What do they have to hide?

Literally said "over time", nothing about deciding after a first date.
Not surprising in light of the fact that mlg.tv has not been a serious competitor to twitch for ages.

OTOH, you can now use a standard charger that is shared with increasingly many new devices. How many people are actually knocking laptops off tables because of the power cord?

What corporate American companies don't have this problem?
Re:No tipping means better business on Tuesday December 27, 2016 @05:40PM (#13266860)
Uber drivers are allowed to put up signs soliciting tips in some regions as they won a couple lawsuits.

I choose to tip drivers when they provide extra services or goods. If a driver gives me a bottle of water or lifts heavy luggage for me, I'll sometimes give him some money.

Sous vide is usually at a lower temperature than boiling. I did some research and felt pretty safe about using ziploc bags with mine for meats up to 160 F. People have done testing on this stuff.

These rude 'average gamers' you speak of are the vocal minority in my experience... Most of us are normal people.
Re:Is Running Good or Bad for Your Health? on Thursday September 15, 2016 @09:54AM (#12506103)
see a physical therapist to figure out where you should increase strength in complementary muscle groups as well as fix flexibility issues. Also, making corrections to running form.
I'm not sure how this would change the gap between top schools and super top schools. Most of the top students at A tier schools already applied and got rejected by S tier schools in the current environment. So the quality of students theoretically doesn't change. What am I missing in your logic here?
I mean the preference for other races besides Asian when academic performance is held equal. Which I guess would fall under 'affirmative action.' The typical argument is that colleges want kids who are more 'well-rounded' and Asian kids are stereotyped to be less so.
There's also an explicit racial component to college admissions that I think plenty of us suspect does actually exist in the form of quotas, higher average scores/academic performance. That part can go pretty easily.

Re:What ‘Game of Thrones’ Does to Your Heart Rate on Thursday August 13, 2015 @03:01PM (#10056441)
I haven't worked with the Apple Watch, but for the Microsoft Band, the SDK will return a confidence level for the heart rate. I think both devices usually display the number regardless of confidence level to the user, sometimes with a signification that it is still acquiring your heart rate.

Built in GPS. I don't want to bring my phone on runs with me. For me, it replaces a Garmin GPS watch.

Re:Our Love Affair With the Tablet Is Over on Thursday February 06, 2014 @06:27PM (#7193651)
In bed, I often lay on my side with my tablet locked to portrait orientation but it is standing horizontally with respect to the bed. This way, I don't need to support it with my hands to read, only need to use my hands when I need to scroll or pick something new to read.
Re:Take Buffett's Billion on Monday January 27, 2014 @07:46PM (#7134463)
If the chance of anyone winning is y and the prize is x, you can pay the insurer (x*y)+z dollars to pay out the x dollars in the event that someone wins. I'm sure z is probably tied to x in some way, but just know that z is the money that turns into the insurer's revenue in the long run.

You're basically paying the expected value(cost?) of the prize, plus a fee to the person who's insuring you. That way a billion dollar contest will not actually cost you a billion dollars, even in the event that someone wins.

...and what exactly would be wrong with that? Worst case scenario the BTA price goes to $10 assuming you're buyer 1001 and everyone else bought the $10 pack. You still get a heck of a deal.
(16x)^2 + (9x)^2 = (55)^2

Re:The Death Of Nintendo Has Been Greatly Under-Exaggerated on Wednesday September 04, 2013 @08:12PM (#6331381)
Completely agree

20% less than the Nintendo DS is a good sales figure considering the DS is #2 in terms of video game console sales, only selling 3 millions units less than the all time leader, the PS3. (http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/)

Re:Xbox One Revealed on Tuesday May 21, 2013 @04:18PM (#5746555)
but why would I pay for XBOX live on top of my Netflix/Hulu subscription fees when I can use those services for free on PS3/4 or WiiU?
The ASUS zenbooks were pretty damn good as far as I could tell. I've heard decent stuff about the Dell XPS ultrabooks.

Not exactly an ultrabook, but thinkpad x220/x230 was pretty amazing except for the low screen resolution. IPS screen, great keyboard, great performance aside from integrated graphics, space for an mSATA SSD as well as SATA HDD/SSD, battery slice to boost it to 20+ hours, removable battery, and great linux support.

All of the jobs I looked at the description for have "Min Experience: Experienced." I just graduated in December; is Tumblr looking for new grad hires?
