also stay well away from milk. you don't need it.

file this under reaction videos. he's reacting to the hype. this is no different than saying "the problem with YC" and only focusing on the last 5 batches.

lol
100% i think it was peter thiel who i heard say something to the effect of “if 90% of the most recent supreme court justices went to hardvard/yale, you have to ask yourself what are they teaching there?”

and on the other side, i witnessed what the chicago public school system says to the kids (remote learning) and holy shit. it was like something from 1984. gotta start preparing us to not own anything and like it some time…..

wow what a great post! i think you totally nailed it. the KEY to a funny imorov scene is the normal base reality. there’s like one joke before matt foley comes out of the basement. you nailed this with your observation, yeah finding my docs is a pain. and it’s super important not to derail from your game. key and peele are the masters of this. substitute teacher is literally one joke over and over and it’s hilarious. they’re also masters of the unusual thing. that’s where i might challenge you with eesl. a search bar in browser extension is not unusual.

Re:Ask HN: How to build empathy? on Friday March 26, 2021 @10:50PM (#26599467)
empathy is the TCP handshake of understanding

Me ---------------- My feelings -------------- > You

Me ------------- I understand? -------------- :You

Me <------------- You understand -------------- You

Great point. Now consider what browser came after Firefox. This is what Apple wants to prevent.

Love this positive attitude. Have you tried using Lens Studio?

I never thought I'd say a tool brings me joy, but Lens Studio brings me joy.

For me in the US I went from talking like a lunatic to talking about yesterday’s news. Frustrating to say the least.

Many great tech startups began because the founders had the protection of doing whatever they wanted (fb, goog, snap) without worrying about other stuff. You guys had a year to figure this out. Startups tend to happen naturally and they aren't for everyone.
Re:A Closer Look at the $13B Premium Eyewear Market on Monday October 09, 2017 @03:13PM (#15436579)
Yes you bring up a good point. A pair of glasses is quite different than a bottle of water.

Seems that most frame design comes from European, so it probably has alot to do with pride.

Why do you see an ophthalmologist and not an optometrist?
Re:A Closer Look at the $13B Premium Eyewear Market on Monday October 09, 2017 @03:51AM (#15432145)
Yes this is all true, but the real reason glasses cost so much is because people buy vision, not glasses. And people value vision extremely high. I started a glasses company and when I'd tell people their $900 glasses cost the eye doctor less than $100, they would give me this blank stare like "so what? I can see."
I'm not really surprised, but I also don't really understand the comparison. Facebook/Twitter distribute news, they don't create it.
I feel like media companies (like recode, cnn) are really going after social tech companies (like twitter, facebook) right now.
Re:Ponzi Schemes Using Virtual Currencies (2014) [pdf] on Tuesday October 03, 2017 @08:29PM (#15397413)
I don't see this any different than advertising laws. Given the nature of capitalism, people will always try to bamboozle each other and if the benefit of bamboozling someone is high enough, we get really smart bamboozlers. I think it's natural to plan ahead and prevent this.
hahah I love Reddit.. SFW: 1 row. NSFW: 3 rows

Can you site any of this?
Does anyone think that when the crypto bubble bursts, that will cause a stock market level crash?
Every time I read news like this, I remember that nyt has many choices of what to publish and they CHOSED to publish this. Why? It feels like this article is designed to increase sympathy for the CIA.
How much did you pay yourself during the 16 months? Did you three all get paid the same?
Re:Ask HN: Is there room for another search engine? on Sunday March 26, 2017 @01:42PM (#13961949)
Yes and I predict Reddit will be the first challenger to finding web content. And looking beyond, I don't see Google as the way I find amazing AR/VR experiences.
