With Sega's purchase of Relic, hopefully they can pick up the Homeworld franchise and do something with it again!

Show HN: Smart Reader - native RSS reading app that suggests interesting news

We all use different kinds of RSS feed readers to fetch news, but as the number of feeds we subscribe to grows, we may wake up to 400+ news items every morning, but very few RSS feed readers can suggest to us what to read first.Smart Reader is a Windows RSS reading app that has a built-in machine learning algorithm for suggesting interesting news. It learns by user's labeling of what news are...

Re:Microsoft to acquire Skype on Tuesday May 10, 2011 @12:49PM (#2533151)
I use Lync at work, and I like it. The features are there, but nothing is in your face. Hopefully Skype will not adopt some of their design concepts.
Re:Let’s mug a startup founder on Tuesday May 10, 2011 @12:43PM (#2533131)
Sometimes I wonder if the guys who are providing the hosting, logo, font and design services are the ones making the money, not the startup founders. Web startups can depend on many paid services to make a web app work, yet not sure if their own web app can make money at all.

Well, USA can beat China by suing them. Joking...

I always start my day with a hot cup of pu-erh or jiaogulan. It is said both has cleansing effect for the digestive system.
Sorry, it is a masters in CS, corrected my question.

Ask HN: Going to Grad School, which language/framework should I learn?

I have been programming in C# for about 4 years at work. I plan to go back to grad school for a masters in CS next year, what language should I learn to help me out with grad school courses?Update: To be clear, the purpose of going to grad school is to sharpen up and most likely to go back into the workforce later.

Thanks. I wanted to bring to attention of the user which story they were reading... but I think you are right.

I have to admit that it's a shameless clone of reddit/digg, and not all features are there yet... The purpose was to try to see if a focused community social news aggregator would be useful.
Re:Google Buzz on Tuesday February 09, 2010 @06:13PM (#1113645)
Watched the Buzz video a few times, does it look like a simpler, faster, easier to understand version of Google Wave???
Re:Google Buzz on Tuesday February 09, 2010 @04:26PM (#1113381)
Would you rather just have documentation of APIs? Having the source code is better than not, at least it gives people the option to expand/correct/port anything if they wish to.
Re:Why do the Chinese save so much? on Tuesday February 09, 2010 @04:14PM (#1113340)
Because before 1949, life was hell. After 1949, life was better, but still struggle in poverty. Recent years has been the best for Chinese for a couple centuries. People learn to live with what they have and always save money to prepare for a rainy day.

Although, Chinese are willing to spend big bucks on education, especially for their children.

Re:Google Buzz on Tuesday February 09, 2010 @03:36PM (#1113218)
Totally agree... rather than shipping a stand alone product and dragging along users to use them, they simply integrated a new product into a very successful one. Plus, the new product fits perfectly.
Re:Google Buzz on Tuesday February 09, 2010 @03:33PM (#1113205)
Not bizarre if you consider Google actually gives away source code of some of their best products for free. Microsoft just couldn't do this.
