You also have people who just like bangers and love throwing some tracks together, like to create sets or playlists, think they might be a DJ one day, to move the crowd, no time/inclination in making music per se but care about the created experience and will learn the 'plumbing' if they have to....

well, I agree with this, however... if you make it soo bad that it seems that adulthood will be a joy, maybe it will reduce the crash as the responsibilities start coming in? The restrictions that would ensure should be pretty transparent along the lines of well you can't do that because you're a kid, right?

Yes! I was just thinking that - what if they become conditioned.. still I think it's worth considering, as a thought experiment in light of what seems to be happening - you get the same chains when you come of age instead, although they are virtual....

I had an idea the other day that children could have some kind of jewellery that they can't remove like a curfew device. Probably impractical but at least it matches - children=limited rights and need protection. Once of age, no need, come of age, can remove.

go on, spell it out - its just a thought experiment - how is it worse than the death march we're already on? and the inexorable march to control adults, this is the opposite of that, and it reflects the control we're supposed to exert over our children, in a pretty neutral way (it seems - waiting for your arguments to burst my balloon!). Society and parents control you while you need a parental guardian, then once of age you're free to do whatever we like.

I was thinking that some kind of permanent physical attachment with passive electronics could be given to children, like an ankle bracelet used for home curfew, monkey's headband, a dogs shock collar, or just a nice bracelet, call it MoB, which couldn't be removed until they are of age. Devices they are given could be associated with those devices and not usable without them, if they disappear from passive scanning then they have been tin-foiled, etc etc. I've not seen any discussion of this type of approach which gives children something to aim for - freedom, and tallies with human historical culture as well.

Something similar happened to me with twilio - years ago I had a number 'parked' with them, my card expired, they never notified me, account went into arrears, and they cancelled my number. I was quite a special number, a UK '0200' number they'd released somehow, which shouldn't have been released. When they then acquired sendgrid, to add insult to injury I eventually found out that I was blacklisted and had to go through various validation procedures in order to do business with them, which I declined to do.

Octopus energy in the UK with the beta agile tariff is based on 30 minute pricing and prices have been so low at times such as yesterday that the price per unit has been negative, for example on Sunday and Monday I was paid 4.2 pence per unit to take electricity off the network.

It's not an abomination it has some flaws which don't affect me, others that make me compromise a bit (drive more slowly, stop more often), but some reasons I chose it other than it being the only affordable electric car available that met all my requirements, was because of the bmw quality and attention to detail which are also hallmarks of the brand.

Well here you only need a small tank relative to the finished print, also, you don't move the laser head, but only the parts of the item that has already been printed. Everything else stays still, meaning reduced vibration which seems to mean a really steady quality of print.
Re:Roundabouts: The widening gyre (2013)
on Thursday January 01, 2015 @11:51AM (#8823410)
Not really, there were no people crossing or waiting to cross... I went back to check and I missed it because it was a very wide road, there was a middle traffic light 'abovehead' which is how I missed it. I do actually agonise over these types of issues, and genuinely believe that at that moment I was not a danger to the public! Had it been a light at a junction it would have been much more dangerous, and also very difficult to miss. Also, having done some research afterwards, it appears that the Swindon police force were under a quota system so were actually targeting motorists, and therefore would exercise no discretion at all after seeing this occur.

Haha, same here. (edit: not planning on visiting Swindon again after the first visit which involved some trouble with the 'magic' roundabout)
I was in turn: confused (as I wasn't expecting it), amused (as I had recently read a Wikipedia article about it), distracted (as I tried to explain it to my partner), shocked (when I got stopped by a policeman having inadvertently driven through a pedestrian traffic light), and angry (when I got 3 points on my license). I tried to explain that I had been distracted by the roundabout but to no avail.

It looks to me that the url that calls queries_read_records.like_article() only requires a logged in user and a record id in order to set a read record as liked? Are you saying that is not possible to guess the id because it's not a sequential number by default in mongodb?
