Re:eBay’s Cockroach Cult: The Story of a Stalking Scandal on Saturday September 26, 2020 @11:04AM (#24599347)
It speaks very badly of eBay that such a cultish and abusive group was allowed to exist.
Re:Stitch Labs has been acquired by Square on Friday July 10, 2020 @07:32PM (#23797848)
There are many. Their feature sets vary a lot.
Re:Stitch Labs has been acquired by Square on Friday July 10, 2020 @05:42PM (#23796866)
That's a really odd statement since Stitch's main feature is multi-channel inventory synchronization and Square doesn't do that at all.
Yes it looks like somebody a: copied unencrypted backups to S3 and b: set the s3 bucket to be publicly accessible

BIG oops.

Re:So, I tried Dwolla on Thursday April 18, 2013 @07:33PM (#5573837)
Sounds like they pulled a credit check. I got the same kind of questions when I applied for regular merchant (credit card processing) account.
Re:So, I tried Dwolla on Thursday April 18, 2013 @07:25PM (#5573814)
Why is it that people think that they can open a payment account, transfer thousands of dollars into it as their first transaction and no one will ask any questions or be the least bit suspicious?
What utter nonsense.
Re:Delegate or die: the self-employed trap on Saturday August 18, 2012 @03:34PM (#4402055)
Agreed. Actually there is a Sivers book, it's called "Anything you want"
Re:Joyent ending "lifetime" hosting accounts on Thursday August 16, 2012 @03:21PM (#4393156)
Thanks for the clarification Patrick. I was too busy fuming to explain.
Re:Joyent ending "lifetime" hosting accounts on Thursday August 16, 2012 @03:20PM (#4393149)
Exactly. I can and will be moving elsewhere. My three puny sites can hardly be making their servers tick over the most active only gets ~2000 uniques on a good month.
Re:Joyent ending "lifetime" hosting accounts on Thursday August 16, 2012 @11:30AM (#4391727)
I switched to the Solaris hosting some time ago as well.
Re:Re: Craig Newmark - Principled Jerk on Wednesday August 01, 2012 @01:28PM (#4324320)
Some people seem to think that they're entitled to hitch a ride on the huge network effect craigslist has acquired through years of patient effort. The folks are shocked, shocked that craigslist isn't thrilled to let them do so.
Re:FeeFighters Acquired By Groupon on Friday March 23, 2012 @05:04PM (#3747277)
This seems an odd fit to me. Groupon has a reputation for not being concerned whether the deals it encouraged businesses to run are good for the business. FeeFighters has had a reputation as a sincere advocate for SMB's.
Paypal's destruction of counterfeits policy is intended to combat counterfeiting of designer items. It's application here seems lame-brained to say the least.

I'm curious how it got into Paypal's dispute resolution process however. In the only other original post I could find on the matter the seller says she sold the violin through eBay http://paypalcomplaints.org/paypal-told-buyer-to-destroy-ite.... Normally this would have gone through eBay's dispute resolution process first.

Re:Chilean airplane crash located via Apple's Find My iPhone on Thursday September 08, 2011 @03:49PM (#2975392)
Yes, the story has a bit of an urban legend smell about it. Doesn't it?
Re:Why is a used Python book on Amazon cost over $200? on Friday September 02, 2011 @01:38PM (#2954909)
Many Amazon marketplace sellers use software to automatically adjust the prices of books. The results are sometimes strange.

Re:Joyent: 54+ hours of downtime on Sunday February 27, 2011 @08:50PM (#2269685)
btw. Elapsed time between opening the support request and an answer from someone at Joyent - 9 minutes... Elapsed time from opening support request to receiving account details for an account on a new machine about 26 minutes. That includes the time it took me to get back to them about some details of the account.
Re:Joyent: 54+ hours of downtime on Sunday February 27, 2011 @08:39PM (#2269660)
I have a lifetime account as well. Joyent's tech support has always been excellent. I take this as a wakeup call to get my stuff off of the old severs beyond that I can see little fault with Joyent.
Re:Show HN: Breakup Notifier on Sunday February 20, 2011 @07:44PM (#2243695)
Didn't Facebook kill something like this a few years ago?
