Well, that's one of the reasons I decided to go with psychology. Counselling suits me more.
No, I don't mind. Psychology was always on my radar and few years back I have decided to pursue Masters in that field. This opens lots of new possibilities: practice (after additional studies), ability to conduct tests and evaluate people based on results (you need to be a Psychologist in order to use some of the tools), you can apply knowledge into other fields (e.g. HR / team management / event IT), eventually this kind of studies gives a completely new perspective. In my opinion, it was worth the time and effort.
I, sharing the same feeling, have taken more drastic step. Instead of changing a specialisation within IT I have recently graduated in Psychology.

No! Just no! :)
Kahneman was awarded Nobel prize in economic sciences even though his work was, in fact, all about psychology.

It looks like there is this secret society working hard on making people suffer in a hotel rooms after long trips. Blue TV indicators, white and blue air condition panels, impossible to cover LEDs that are attached to fire detectors.

All of that to make sure the room stays as bright as possible the whole night. I am always impressed with the efficiency of these little, bright, things. In terms of a brightness per cubic meter efficiency.

Click bait :) What I was really expecting was a picture of purple llama ;)
Re:Johnny Decimal: A System to Organize Projects on Thursday September 14, 2023 @07:10AM (#37507415)
I have found Sublime Text and Sublime Merge to server me well with sort of `GTD` like approach (not orthodox one though). Finding in files + `regexp` works perfectly fine for most of my notes related to projects. Sublime Merge serves as a history keeper.

I guess to all the whiteboard coding with the recursion (e.g. Fibonacci sequence). On a contrary, I think it is present in many places where you have to dive into any sensible, tree like, structure. Then, it's a mess once it turns out person has no idea what recursion is.

Re:I don't want to host services (but I do) on Wednesday August 09, 2023 @03:52PM (#37067547)
For me, it turned our that buying hardware and hosting Minecraft server in a garage is simply much cheaper comparing to Cloud providers. This is why I am for self hosted stuff.
Re:Gitless a simple VCS built on top of Git on Saturday June 17, 2023 @02:13PM (#36372814)
I tried GitKraken once. Then, I switched to Sublime Merge and stopped worrying about all these fancy branches in my projects :)

Which reminds me that with IntelliJ you can get a really nice combo for debugging Java/C/C++ code: https://youtu.be/8Cjeq4l5COU

I was engaged in exactly the same rant. For me, the outcome is I don't talk with random people anymore :) Waste of time.
Re:Meld for Macs on Monday May 16, 2022 @06:00PM (#31403661)
Sublime Merge (when it comes to git integration) is the best choice now - at least for me.

Meld, on the other hand, is the best tool for comparing local copies and directories.

Re:We lost 54k GitHub stars on Friday April 15, 2022 @03:34AM (#31037495)
I feel your pain. I have dropped from 250 to zero for exact same reason ;) The order of magnitude is for sure different, but still, hitting the ground without any warning was a surprise.

A workaround here is to:

- leave the repo public - move it somewhere else (to private repo) - reinit original repo with empty content - once ready, bring back the old repo to previous remote

This way your stars are preserved.

This is the exact reason that made me develop MuteMyMic. I was really fed up with all these apps that alter input volume behind your back. Now, I can at least know that somebody is playing nasty as MMM beeps whenever mic's volume was changed.

This is not an advertisement ;) I no longer actively develop this app, however, I am still a happy user ;)
