Re:People do not believe that adding supply reduces housing prices

This is another huge myth in the US housing market, that big companies own lots of the housing and are jacking the prices up. It's simply not true. Large corporations own a tiny fraction of the market while the vast majority is owned by individuals and small landlords.

I still curse the IPv6 designers for not making it backward compatible with IPv4. IPv6 is definitely better designed but the lack of backwards compatibility makes moving to it an absolute bear. I know the designers thought the transition would only take a couple of years but almost 30 years later... here we are.

Re:Nearly 40% of U.S. homes are mortgage-free, census shows
on Tuesday December 12, 2023 @10:05AM (#38613076)
The US has not built enough homes to meet demand for over 30 years which is by far the biggest factor in high housing prices. Zillow is not causing people to move more, the number of Americans moving each year is reaching record lows. High housing prices mixed with high interest rates is causing people to stay put because the cost of buying another home is much more costly. You have to go from your old low-interest mortgage to a high-interest one and high housing prices means realtor fees are also sky-high.

I like that it's inline with the search results. That's something I don't like about Bing's chat, you either have to search the web or ask chat. It's not as seamless.
