There is no such thing as society.
Blaming genes and the “structure of your brain” is precisely what people without a sense of personal responsibility do.
Maybe the family should blame the degenerate gambler. You know, a little personal responsibility. Not a common thing these days.
If voting could remove them it wouldn't be allowed.

I didn't know "illegal showerheads" existed. I thought the Seinfeld episode was a joke.
Re:Bezos says AI is in an industrial bubble on Saturday October 04, 2025 @02:40AM (#45471079)
Hard disagree.
The actions of ICE today (and the popular support for ICE) are the direct responsibility of everybody (both sides) who allowed the number of undocumented people to grow so much.
You make those networks illegal to use. Just using them would be illegal, regardless of the contents of your communications.
Re:I spent the day teaching seniors how to use an iPhone on Friday October 03, 2025 @12:29PM (#45464764)
An Android smartphone would have the same usability problems for geezers.
I don’t think anybody remembers this since that code never shipped in retail.
Re:Japan faces Asahi beer shortage after cyber-attack on Friday October 03, 2025 @03:39AM (#45460157)
Good… what a bad beer Asahi is
This is a bit one-sided innit. It doesn’t include the explanation given by Meta, just their rejection of the claims.
Damn, I’m so jealous. I wish we had this in my European country!
Re:Imgur Access in the United Kingdom on Tuesday September 30, 2025 @11:42AM (#45426959)
Of course.
Re:Imgur Access in the United Kingdom on Tuesday September 30, 2025 @11:31AM (#45426800)
When you receive a request to your website (or any service), that request comes from an IP address. There are databases that can tell you what country an IP address is from. It's not perfect, but it works well enough 99.99% of the time. Then, if the country is blacklisted, you do not allow access.
Re:How I Block All 26M of Your Curl Requests on Tuesday September 30, 2025 @03:44AM (#45422970)
Those bots would be really naive not to use curl-impersonate. I basically use it for any request I make even if I don’t expect to be blocked because why wouldn’t I.
Re:Big Tech Told Kids to Code. The Jobs Didn’t Follow [audio] on Monday September 29, 2025 @06:09PM (#45419416)
So since “big tech” told kids to code now they have to hire them and keep them in an office twiddling their thumbs?
What others have been doing thus far has not been helping either. The problem just gets worse every passing day. How many have to be killed using American money until this problem is eradicated?
I suppose because it will start writing in memory that is handled by other parts of the code and corrupting it.
I’m glad that we are at last having this kind of conversation. Just a few years ago this was simply impossible. There’s too much vermin in the elites.

Consider that this is what they actually wanted you to do. They are a school and wanted to teach you to deal with the problems in your life yourself. In other words, they were trying to teach you to be an adult.

Maybe they should stop the massive increase in population if it cannot be sustained by the resources in the island.
Re:Ed Zitron is mad as hell on Sunday September 28, 2025 @07:16AM (#45403496)
A lot of pessimistic and angry predictions about IA that never materialise. That's his shtick.
You can add as much multi threading as you want, but if you need to wait until all threads are done, the entire window will stall to show you that context menu you requested.
Re:The Amazon Kindle War Against Piracy on Saturday September 27, 2025 @04:24AM (#45394063)
Where in the message did he claim that pirating the books compensated the writers?
Utterly unpresentable because some don’t like his politics? That’s bizarre.
Carbon credits are nothing but a scam. Their prices are completely made-up since we don’t have the technology to remove carbon and therefore don’t have the faintest idea what the actual cost should be. It’s nothing but a way of hamstringing our industry to make us poorer.
Re:All British adults to require a digital ID 'Brit Card' on Friday September 26, 2025 @03:53AM (#45383930)
What do you think is happening to those markets?
Re:The Story of DOGE, as Told by Federal Workers on Thursday September 25, 2025 @07:50PM (#45380823)
That’s a good question for the DNC!
Re:The Story of DOGE, as Told by Federal Workers on Thursday September 25, 2025 @06:49PM (#45380272)
Maybe make the other side less horrible so people vote for them?
