Oracle is up there in top 3 with ~$45B AI debt, right after Amazon and Allphabet. And they have little to show for it.

Re:Ask HN: What is the main bottleneck facing Agentic AI today?
on Sunday October 25, 2026 @02:36PM (#50234624)
With Opus 5.5, humans are the bottleneck. Anything human: tasks, reviews, user testing, feedback, etc. Also, even such a great model as the latest Opus seems to not fully understand the human side of the software, its benefits to humans, why this software being built in the first place. But I am sure the latter is a matter of time.

Try gitea. It's super lightweight and feels and looks very similar to gitlab. I did not benchmark but it feels like it needs 10% of ram and cpu of gitlab requirements. It's great.

It would not take them so long to train it. Their pace would be closer to the Chinese models.

He is right in a sense that a lot of abstract concepts, in e.g. combinatorics, can be explained even to middle school students if given as simple examples starting with trivial cases and showing the pattern. How many textbooks do that? Close to zero. How many research notebooks are full of these? I cannot say for sure but I suspect much greater than 0.

It's not even funny any more. Chinese model, Chinese vendor, Chinese, Chinese... Did I say Chinese? Chinese!
Nobody in his right mind will use a Chinese clone when you have models like Opus 5.5 for peanuts.

Despite its quirks, Opus 5.5 is a beast. Runs circles around OpenAI's Astra. I am talking about coding here. Everything is better: the model, the TUI, the quotas.

As T-Mobile was rolling out 5G they dropped support for 3G and possibly some older standards/protocols. If you have an oldish phone that may be the problem.

I get this in my claude.ai usage:
Resets Get extra wiggle room to explore Opus 5.5. Expires Oct 22.
What the hell does this mean? There are weekly "resets" anyways. And there will be 4 of them before Oct 22.

What results? Overnight interbank loan rates, yes, immediately. The effect of those rates on the economy? It will take time to propagate. Heck, some important committees only meet like twice a year.

I don't remember them being so bad. Windows 7, 8 were great. Visual Studio 6 was good. Excel was top quality for a long time. What used to be annoying to me was that Microsoft ignored the common Unix conventions for no good reason and tended to reinvent stuff. It was like smart nerds were tasked to come up with stuff without any awareness of prior art, or as if Bill G snd Steve B were trying to lock in customers into incompatible stuff. Obviously not great but working. What we get now is pure slop and negligence.

My favorite one was a few years ago when MS rolled out a Visual Studio with the login window broken. Literally, it was impossible to log in. I still cannot believe a company like Microsoft can fall so low.

That's false. Please stop spreading Russian propaganda. Not only Ukraine was able to control and maintaining them, in fact, Ukrainian companies manufactured nuke ICBMs, and then serviced them in Russia long after the collapse of the USSR. See, for example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KB_Pivdenne
