Re:Apple’s use of Swift in iOS 12 on Friday September 28, 2018 @09:31AM (#18093140)
Thanks for the answer!

I've been waiting impatiently for a better Swift backend ecosystem, because I'd love to use it for web development as well.

Re:Apple’s use of Swift in iOS 12 on Friday September 28, 2018 @09:01AM (#18092943)
Honestly curious: What makes it such a fantastic language?

Does the same thing apply to newsletters? Let's say I get a bunch of free newsletters to my inbox and share them on my website (I mean literally copy the body so people don't have to sign up for the newsletter themselves), does it count as copyright infringement?
Re:Show HN: Chrome Crypto Ticker on Thursday August 02, 2018 @08:24AM (#17670901)
Good work. I'm curious which API you use (or many different?), because in comparison to other plugins you even support newly listed airdrops.

Another question: Is there any good approach to monetize a chrome extension like this one?

Re:Atom 1.29 on Wednesday August 01, 2018 @03:50AM (#17660416)
Sadly, no. I tried it out again a couple of days ago and the performance is still terrible. I'm in the same boat as you and switched to VS Code.

Mail is out! Thank you. :-)
Re:Show HN: RemoteHacker.com – Find a project partner on Friday March 09, 2018 @12:33PM (#16553323)
I experienced this with so many potential "partners/co-founders". It almost always starts with an exciting discussions about the possibilities and how we're all going make s--tloads of money, but as soon as I expect them to commit to the repo they just can't deliver. Most of the times it's lack of skills, missing motivation, or just the fact that they can't work without being micro-managed by me.
Re:Show HN: RemoteHacker.com – Find a project partner on Friday March 09, 2018 @12:29PM (#16553276)
I would love to use it, as I'm desperately looking for a partner for my site Unfollow.IO and another project since 2016, but I have no credit card. Would you accept PayPal?

I need this. To bad it doesn't support deployments to packet.net.
Re:Coinbase down. Not taking Bitcoin crash well? on Wednesday November 29, 2017 @02:45PM (#15810184)
This is probably one of the worst things that can happen to an exchange like Coinbase in moments like this and I expect this outage to cost them quite a few customers.
By the time this submission gets to the front page, Bitcoin Cash will be crashing again.
Re:Show HN: Twitter Unfollow notifications within Twitter on Monday October 09, 2017 @12:06PM (#15435052)
Cool! I created something similar for Twitch (and upcoming support for more platforms) @ https://www.unfollow.io.

I don't have a monetization model yet, but yours looks really fair.

This was posted 4 times in the past 48 hours by the same user.

Location: Berlin | Remote: Yes | Willing to relocate: No | Technologies: PHP (Laravel), Golang, Vue / React | Resume: Send me and email with a job description and I'll answer with my CV | Email: [email protected]

I design and develop software, with a specialization in full-stack web development using Laravel and Golang.

You can also find some links to my side projects on https://tas.fm/.

Created Unfollow (https://www.unfollow.io) because I wanted to know who unfollowed me on Twitch. Not a noble reason. But now that I don't stream anymore I just do it because it's so much fun and I don't care about unfollowers anymore. Lots of people use it which motivates me. It's free, but I'm looking for monetization strategies.
Re:Ask HN: How did you find your great side project idea? on Thursday August 10, 2017 @05:50AM (#14978080)
Back when I was streaming games on Twitch I cared a lot about my followers count. When you only have 10 followers and all of a sudden someone unfollows it's kind of a big deal, especially if you're trying to grow your followership. I usually spent some time checking my followers list to find out _who_ unfollowed me.

To save me the hassle I developed Unfollow (https://www.unfollow.io). You sign up, connect your Twitch account and it starts tracking your unfollowers and notifies you.

I didn't develop this because I want to encourage people to care about their unfollowers. It's about curiousity. The curiosity about this person who's not following you anymore. I hope the tool can help people satisfy this curiosity.

Can you tell me more about how you would've integrated the API? I think I could've helped out.
Re:Visual Studio for Mac on Wednesday May 10, 2017 @03:30PM (#14310917)
Any .NET MVC developers here? I always wanted to learn ASP MVC, but never did because I was scared of the deployment situation on Linux. Has anything changed in that regard? Would you say deploying a .NET web app works almost as smooth on Linux as let's say a node.js app?
Re:How Heat Kills Cells on Wednesday May 10, 2017 @08:09AM (#14307535)
What about tanning (or tanning studios)? I know there's a big difference between a sauna and a tanning studio, but since we're talking about heating up the body, would it have the same effect? (...despite causing skin cancer)
Re:Show HN: Mirrorshades – Simple web analytics on Monday February 20, 2017 @10:04AM (#13687820)
I think I'm in love.

I just recently switch from GA to Gauges, because the referral spam and bloat was annoying me.

I'm definitely going to use this on my next project. Simple and beautiful.

Thanks for sharing!

Re:GitHub changes topbar to dark theme on Friday February 10, 2017 @03:06PM (#13618425)
Before everybody goes crazy. You can change the header to the light version again by going into your Settings -> Design.

Some people are still missing this option in their settings, but it will show up soon.

I've built my first SaaS (https://www.unfollow.io) and even after three months gaining users is still a hard challengef for me. But all in all the experience and the feeling after the release was totally worth it, even if it turns out not to be profitable in the long run.

If anyones interested in talking about the project hit me up @ [email protected]

So far I'm loving it. The design is simple and clean (on the phone too). I wish you best of luck and I hope the community won't be like the one on 4chan.
Has anyone ever won?
Secure? That's broad. One tip: If you're an activist and scared of censorship better avoid any .tld related to verisign.
