One that can be purchased and shipped from the EU.

They have the strongest consumer protections and guarantees.

I'd go for a Sony.

"It's only us that can be trusted to be stewards of this technology.

Ban open source models."

Why do we allow non public universities to exist again?

Re:OpenAI breaches Medicare, Albanese reveals on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @06:40PM (#49823604)
Either it's yet again a marketing ploy or federal police needs to move in
Incredible that US public service does the bidding of corporate America.

It's like freedom.equals(we don't like regulation at all)

Re:More than 100k people in Japan are now aged 100 or older on Thursday September 17, 2026 @11:28PM (#49749896)
You keep spewing apologist nonsense by refusing to acknowledge that the US is by far the most imperialist entity at the moment.

In comparison, China is the least.

> China didn't just form with its current borders. It expanded and contracted and expanded some more for millennia.

As did everyone else?

I don't see China having military bases all over the world and proping up "freedom fighters"

Re:Genuine Creativity Is Your New Moat (2026) on Thursday September 10, 2026 @09:39PM (#49652519)
Being in a Union is the only moat.
Re:Hang on to Your Firefox on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @09:09PM (#49530507)
Why isn't Firefox funded from the state as a utility and is instead left to rot in the hands of the "free" market?

If ff needs to turn a profit to survive how can it not follow the directives of the market?

The safest jobs from AI are the Unionized ones.
> Why is spain suffering from this?

A lot of good answers to which I'd like to contribute a personal understanding as someone from the euro south:

These countries were decimated by free trade. A significant amount of the populace is not interested in having a "career" and follow a race to the bottom by competing 24/7. I would say culturally they are incompatible the the free marketeering that has been going on in the past decades.

We need to get protectionism back up and running. Work is a necessary evil that needs to take as little of our life as possible.

Re:Why Aren't Smart People Happier? on Thursday August 20, 2026 @10:15PM (#49382895)
What does being smart even mean?
Does it matter?
This is another opportunity for the EU to reign in and create a proper definition of ownership so that this does not pass.

Of course, it would be interesting to hear the freemarketeering on this site and how people should "vote with their wallet" and sites/movements such as $freeplaystation.whatever sprouting pseudopolemic nonsense.

Hi Peter, thank you for your time

I have been living and working Estonia for around 2 years now, I have mostly US clients for a saas that I direct, this saas brings me around steady income of around 200k euros per year, at least 130k come from east coast companies.

Can I apply for the E1 treaty trader visa? Even if my company is not incorporated in Greece?

> There is a class of prediction markets that are useful

No there is not.

That's as damaging a statement as "soft" drugs or "problem" gambling.

Statements usured by corporate PR to set up a fake middle ground and delegate responsibility to the consumer for any "bad" behaviour.

I am not convinced that Israel is such an important ally.

I suspect a fourth column.

Re:Resizing windows on macOS Tahoe – the saga continues on Thursday February 12, 2026 @09:18PM (#46998137)
I cannot believe we do not have a good arm Linux laptop with a comparable price and battery to a MacBook at this stage.

I am forced to use this abomination of an operating system just because.

Come on Lenovo, make it happen

Re:Italy Railways Sabotaged on Saturday February 07, 2026 @05:58PM (#46929150)
They wouldn't, it's just the West trying to set up the stage.

They need a way out over their current mess.

Re:2026 will be my year of the Linux desktop on Friday January 02, 2026 @09:15PM (#46472111)
I ve been a happy user of debian stable for 15 years now, if I could get a Linux laptop with a comparable battery life to apple's then it's done for me.

I think linux people tend to forget how important battery life is on a laptop

Re:Europe: WhatsApp opens for third-party apps on Sunday December 07, 2025 @05:19PM (#46185826)
Is this one of the instances where European regulations hurt businesses?
They tell themselves stories about "if free market did not want it it would not exist" or better us than them
Didn't the US revoke the visas of around 80 Palestinian officials scheduled to speak at the UN summit?
