These days if you say you're English you'll be arrested and thrown in jail

are you the Daniel Gackle mentioned at the bottom of the article or a different one?
Re:Nullboard: Kanban board in a single HTML file on Thursday December 19, 2024 @02:14PM (#42464749)
You can get the browser to confirm you want to close the tab. That's what I did with my little single-file scrapbook thing: http://kaimac.org/posts/scrapbook/index.html
Re:25 Years of Dillo on Monday December 16, 2024 @10:05AM (#42431633)
Have you tried using Ladybird? The performance is unfortunately not very good. On the other hand Dillo loads pages instantly, even if most pages don't look right.

you could detect the supporting electronics with a nonlinear junction detector but they are not cheap
Not a single mention of the obvious privacy concerns in the article

Re:Show HN: Nekoweb – a retro static web hosting on Monday February 26, 2024 @04:06PM (#39516766)
I love the MS UI Gothic pixel font that people use on these retro sites

Re:British man appears in Spanish court over plane-bomb hoax on Monday January 22, 2024 @10:51AM (#39090739)
>The message, sent before Mr Verma departed Gatwick airport, read: "On my way to blow up the plane (I'm a member of the Taliban)."

>Mr Verma's message was picked up by the UK security services who flagged it to Spanish authorities while the easyJet plane was still in the air.

>A court in Madrid heard it was assumed the message triggered alarm bells after being picked up via Gatwick's Wi-Fi network.

I don't see what this has to do with Gatwick's wifi - presumably one of these agencies have their hooks in Snapchat somewhere, PRISM-style.

Re:Ask HN: Who else is working on nothing? on Monday January 15, 2024 @07:52AM (#39000313)

Cloudflare has access to everyone's cleartext? I was unaware of this. NSA must love that

love what you are doing for the web! unfortunately I've not been able to receive the verification email, I guess you're having some issues at the moment.

Is this your first time on hacker news?

Re:LLM Visualization on Sunday December 03, 2023 @03:31PM (#38510467)
I found these notes very useful. They also contain a nice summary of how LLMs/transformers work. It doesn't help that people can't seem to help taking a concept that has been around for decades (kernel smoothing) and giving it a fancy new name (attention).

Or just make one up. Ask silly questions, get silly answers.

Re:Is Your Twitter Down? on Saturday July 01, 2023 @11:48AM (#36551363)
Down for me for several hours as well.
This will lead to the post-ad captcha. "To continue watching the video, select which product was being advertised"
