Re:Ask HN: Which blogging platform do you use? on Monday August 08, 2016 @08:50AM (#12247294)
Well, each blog post is under 30 kb without images. So page load is very fast. Speed is one of the main reason why I use my own static site generator. Since it is hosted on Github Pages, it depends on how fast Github can deliver the page :)

I use my own static site generator "minni" - https://github.com/jyotiska/minni. The UI used to be really basic, so I tweaked it a little in last couple of days. Here is the link to the blog - https://jyotiska.github.io/blog/

I have created a static site generator "minni" that powers my blog at - http://jyotiska.github.io/blog/. It is super simple, has less than 10 CSS declarations and no JavaScript. I don't really expect anyone else to use it since it was created according to my own design preferences. Here is the link in case any one wants to take a peek - https://github.com/jyotiska/minni
Re:Show HN: Which Pokemon is it? on Tuesday July 19, 2016 @03:06AM (#12120278)
All images come from Pokedex that is hosted on the official Pokemon website: http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/

Currently, the application fetches random pokemon, which might explain why there might be repeats. However, changing difficulty levels lets application choose from broader range of Pokemons. Can you try that?

Oops! Fixed it. Thanks for pointing out.

This is exactly the reason I created minni - https://github.com/jyotiska/minni, a static site generator I use to host my own blog. Link to the blog - http://jyotiska.github.io/blog/. Simple, clean and content only.

Wow. This looks really cool.
One of my blog posts made to the top of the front page and remained on the front page for 3-4 hours. The blog was on Medium and their stats showed close to 25k visits on that day.

Thank you for this. Will definitely look into this.

Ask HN: Want to learn about Docker and CoreOS ecosystem, how do I start?

Linux Containers are really popular these days for deployment. I am looking for some tutorials or blog posts to learn about Kubernetes, Docker, CoreOS, etcd, fleet and the related technologies. Possibly doing some hands-on too for getting a better idea. As a beginner how should I start and where to look for tutorials?

Dell XPS 15 L501x. Bought it in 2011, battery doesn't work anymore, replaced HDD twice and upgraded RAM. Still going strong and I expect it will server for another couple of years. I use it primarily as my home computer, because it is a bit bulky to carry around. But one hell of a laptop.
Re:Json vs. simplejson vs. ujson on Monday April 06, 2015 @05:07AM (#9327217)
You are right. I had to create the ASCII tables, because I was not able to draw tables on Medium.
Re:Json vs. simplejson vs. ujson on Monday April 06, 2015 @02:06AM (#9326841)
Hey Jason. Thats pretty interesting. I have also noticed similar things but for my case, we needed faster loading/unloading for some cases, hence ujson.

Author here. Thanks for pointing this out. I wrote this article long back and forgot about it. I have made the changes .

Ask HN: Companies using MongoDB, suggestions to deploy at scale?

We are using MongoDB for past 1 year, but with time, the aggregation framework is getting slow with 1M+ documents in a collection, even with indexes.People who are currently using MongoDB in production, what kinds of performance optimizations did you have to make in order to deploy it in scale? Any tips, stories, suggestions are welcome!
