Show HN: Aura – a Rust agent that investigates and fixes production incidents

https://github.com/mezmo/aura

We run a SaaS that handles petabytes of data. Our SRE team experimented with using claude, openclaw, langchain, etc. within our incident response workflows. We struggled with overflowing context, lethal trifecta vectors, hallucinations, and burned a lot of frontier tokens mostly on easy work. Approval fatigue was a challenge, and we drew a hard line at relaxing permissions in production.Long...

tl;dr: ibuprofen may be a cause as well.

I suffered from incredibly painful month+ long lasting chronic canker sores (technically apthous ulcers) for the first 3 decades of my life.

Doctors and dentists suggested all the usual triggers (avoid SLS, supplement with B vitamins, etc)

Then one day someone mentioned the connection of NSAIDs and ulcers, and I instantly realized mouth ulcers are.. ulcers...

I used to use ibuprofen occasionally, often enough to not correlate it to canker sores. Of course then I’d use more ibuprofen for that pain, get more canker sores, and be miserable for months.

Haven’t bought ibuprofen for 10 years now and they just stopped. I have used ibuprofen on a couple occasions since I learned this and both times I developed a canker sore. IANAD, YMMV, I’m just happy they’re gone

I have dreamed about a pipeline that can take elevation data, building data, maps, and streetview imagery to process a city into all the components you would need to build a proper map for one of the GTA engines, including all the other objects like trees, fire hydrants, signs, light posts, traffic lights, etc.

The building textures could be recreated from the low-res streetview imagery using a pipeline to scale / relight them using image-to-image models. Building shapes could be rebuilt using generative models for 3d mesh components. Road & sidewalk quality (how clean, how faded lines are, etc) could be inferred from imagery as well to be applied to the map.

Super cool project, hoping it continues to evolve!

> Why, instead, do you shut them in a dark room, alone with a stranger, to talk about things that make them sad?

FWIW, this isn't really how therapy goes. At least from my CBT experiences, its a few minutes of talking about what we're currently struggling with, then decoding those topics to learn how we distort our experiences and memories towards the negative / stressful.

Then usually the "homework" would be small actionable steps to build up habits to become aware of these distortions, as well as habits to make other healthy choices.

Not discounting Andrew's story one bit, just putting a bit more light on what modern therapy aims towards.

I'm potentially leaving a full time gig and looking for a short term contract.

I'm a devops / systems engineer with a ton of AWS and puppet experience. My main responsibilities of late have been migrating huge production applications out of a traditional hand built datacenter environment into a fully automated and autoscaled AWS environment, as well as being a lead on the architecture of brand new environments for new projects.

I'm interested in finding something short term, where I can jump in and quickly start adding value.

SEEKING WORK: Seattle / Remote

I'm potentially leaving a full time gig and looking for a short term contract.

I'm a devops / systems engineer with a ton of AWS and puppet experience. My main responsibilities of late have been migrating huge production applications out of a traditional hand built datacenter environment into a fully automated and autoscaled AWS environment, as well as being a lead on the architecture of brand new environments for new projects.

I am largely self managed and independent, and I pride myself on thorough information discovery prior to building anything. I also complete projects with excellent documentation.

Some bullet points:

- 12 year career in building and supporting production web applications

- 8 years experience on AWS

- 3 years experience with puppet

- Wearing a developer hat, I have also built production stable applications in rails, php, and nodejs

- At my current job, I am a lead engineer on supporting our flagship products supporting $100MM+ revenue

- In 3 years I have built, automated, and/or maintained upwards of 110 separate production environments

- In general, I don't maintain an ego, I don't add risk by way of over-confident planning, and I am huge on transparency and documentation.

That's a brief introduction. Contact me if this sounds like what you are looking for and I can send you a resume. I'm interested in finding the right fit, where I can jump in and quickly start adding value.

Ask HN: What else besides writing code or managing people?

Hey HN, long time lurker, hoping this awesome community can help me (and others like me) figure out the next step in my (thier) career(s).I spent 2006-2012 on three self funded ventures that didn't come to fruition, which left me tapped for spending ability, several maxed credit cards, and a job in Seattle thats not advancing me career-wise.I am starting to feel a slip in my creativity, which I...

I have a lot of machines I regularly connect to. Parsing the known_hosts file and adding to my shell's tab completion was a nice timesaver. Here's the line from my .bash_profile

complete -W "$(echo `cat ~/.ssh/known_hosts | cut -f 1 -d ' ' | sed -e s/,.*//g | uniq | grep -v "\["`;)" ssh
