Why do people want to look at old os's like this and Amiga what is the fascination? Just curious.

I felt the same way about the Ledger wallet heist. The amount of planning that must have gone into that is insane.

How about just reversing grey hair. I’m surprised no one figured that out yet.

Poll HN: Is there a skill to coding with AI?

Yes = there a skill to doing it well

Re:Poll HN: Is there a skill to coding with AI? on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @10:03PM (#49987089)
I spent 4 years hand coding a real time google docs competitor from the ground up with no libs (and got it working very nicely).

I found that easier to do than code up a production grade app with AI, mainly because hand coding was all easily provable end-to-end.

That's why I posted this poll, I was curious if others think it is a real skill.

I think it's going to be the UI to manage your data as that will bring higher value to existing users. I'll make that surface in HTML which will enable porting to be easier.
The plan is to port it to windows and linux. The architecture is already there.

I need to decide between building a UI editor for moments, memories and meetings OR the port to windows/linux work.

What do you think I should work on first? (Asking everyone actually!)

While they do technically ride every request, they're cached in all good clients, so usually pretty cheap. Also Claude Code just loads names and defers the full definitions until it thinks it needs one.

Show HN: Breadcrumb, record everything on your mac + context manager for AI

https://innerloop.works/breadcrumb

Hi HN, I'm Justin.Breadcrumb records everything you do on your Mac (screen + meetings + AI transcripts + what you and your AI decided) and turns it into memory your AI can search. It's local and encrypted. You can also teach it rules by talking to it and it makes sure the right rules turn up in the right context. Works with Claude Code / Codex / Cursor / opencode. All of this is exposed to your...

What a rookie mistake!

I think over time more and more will be peeled back to just the model and markdown. I have a beautiful factory running with key personas all it is is a few markdown files it is building a mac app fantastically well.

https://innerloop.test/breadcrumb (for reference)

It’s not in there yet, but there will be a lot of data management options. It just hasn’t existed long enough yet for it to cause the storage problem for anyone but that’s something I’m going to get too real quick.
Fair enough I will try to unlock download in next few days.

I guess I'll do a Show HN too but I really wanted a few more users before that but yolo.

Its working pretty well to be honest! here’s some more background :)

They're on the idle screen under the title, but easy to miss: space (or W / up) to fly and fire, one key does both, A D (or arrows) to turn, S for shield. On a phone, turn it sideways and tap to fly.
Oh cool. I'm working on exactly that here!

It doesn't! Livewire is a way to build UI/form interactions over http/js.

Lightspeed is a websocket server.

Livewire talks to the server over normal HTTP requests and for anything pushed from the server it uses Laravel Echo. Lightspeed is a Pusher-compatible server so you'd point Echo at it like you would Reverb.

The thing Lightspeed adds is letting the browser send messages back into Laravel over that same socket, with auth on each one. Livewire doesn't do that its actions are still HTTP.

For most applications Livewire would be the goto. Lightspeed is kind of a high speed specialist option for building real time apps like you might do with node.js for exmaple.

Show HN: Lightspeed, build real time apps the Laravel way (with asteroids demo)

Hi HN!Laravel has worked with websockets for years but generally speaking it's a one way push architecture (i.e. http in, sockets out).Lightspeed is kind of like node in that it's a single server that serves your http and your websockets all under one roof. Auth runs in 0.03ms (a Redis read, no database). Your Laravel handler runs inside the full container and the reply comes back down the same...

Comforting a toddler/child often requires bending the truth and is pretty essential imho.

Nice constraint. I've been building in this space for a while now and the lossiness question is a real one. The accessibility tree works for a lot of things but the more I worked on it the more stuff I found needed pixels.

YMMV.

That's weird that the more techy thing is cheaper.

'comon now, let's not throw out the baby with the bath water.

That's a bit of an scorched earth extreme response imho.

Re:Devtools must be open source on Monday August 03, 2026 @09:02PM (#49163260)
Conversely, software that is not open source, but that has a really good API and SDK (like obsidian) is also very easy for your agent to do anything it wants with.

This gives the end user all the customization they need and gives a company like obsidian the capability to have a little bit of secret source in today’s day and age.

I've been in a few meetings like this. In all cases it was because they, as business leaders, were not able to run a profitable company.

That's the most irritating part.
