It is co-created, yes. I test everything I publish, even the publishing skills

If you doubt it that’s your right of course. These days you should doubt everything.

I needed a personal CRM for my consulting work — just contacts, deals, and follow-ups. Built it with Rails 8 and Avo, backed entirely by SQLite (Solid Cache, Solid Queue, Solid Cable).

The interesting part is where it runs. Rails 8's Solid stack makes the whole app a single process with one database file, which means it fits on a Synology NAS. Docker container, Tailscale for access, HyperBackup and Btrfs snapshots for backups.

The post covers the non-obvious parts: Synology's SSH PATH problem with non-interactive sessions, Docker UID/permission gotchas, how Thruster's port mapping works in a non-root container, and running a local Docker registry so images stay on your network.

Show HN: Crow's Nest – a weekly planner and budget tracker for Harvest users

https://mycrowsnest.app

I've been a freelance developer for years and always struggled with planning my weeks and tracking project budgets. I use Harvest for time tracking, but it doesn't give me a weekly view or budget visibility until it's too late.So I built Crow's Nest – a work week planner and budget visibility layer that sits on top of Harvest. It pulls your time entries and shows you:- Your week laid out by...

I’m really excited for Ractors in this content and how/if they could improve the Ruby side

It‘s called „money“

There are a lot of wonderful upsides to this approach, yes.

It’s just... people think those technologies are congruent but the overlaps are actually minimal.

For any rather sophisticated UI you can (and will want) to use both.

For example: repaint a data visualization. With Hotwire you can only replace it and start fresh, with SR you can just surgically morph data attributes without disconnecting your stimulus controllers

Re:StimulusReflex, or LiveView for Rails on Friday January 15, 2021 @08:12AM (#25790538)
For sure! It just doesn’t really overlap.

in one word: morphdom (https://github.com/patrick-steele-idem/morphdom)

also, StimulusReflex predates Hotwire for 1 year and is already pretty hardened :-)

https://pypi.org/project/django-sockpuppet/

It's a SR clone, the maintainers are actually very active in our community :-)

Yep, turbolinks. We’re all waiting for TL6 though to revive the android adapter.
Re:Two Patterns for StimulusReflex Form Submissions on Wednesday October 28, 2020 @06:51AM (#24917317)
I wasn’t aware of LiveComponent, thanks for that!

Frankly, patterns around SR are just materializing but there’s for example https://github.com/joshleblanc/view_component_reflex that’s maybe comparable.

CableReady is the Swiss Army knife, there’s a whole ecosystem forming around it, e.g. https://github.com/julianrubisch/futurism, a lazy loading gem by me or https://optimism.leastbad.com/, a remote form validation gem (presumably superseded by Rails 6.1/TL6, but who knows)

You might want to follow me on twitter, I‘ll be posting my explorations there!
