Local-first, private LLMs for instance.

Is about time we stop being dependent on super powerful that only exist on the walled gardens of some company that only have interest to maximize their profits and get an IPO.
Local-based and edge LLMs have to become the new norm. And it's about time that people start using the power for their benefit instead of benefitting a tech behemoth.

You Should definitely read it. That way you won't be wasting time throwing stuff to a wall and see what sticks (I've been there).
And thanks for sharing that update, I like seeing how this evolves.

This is the most wholesome thing I've ever read here on HN.
many people receive help and advice but way too few come back to express gratitude.
Cheers to you dude.

Yeah I get that point of the UX. Since almost all PKMS out there have their own way of handling info and all need like a manual or tutorial to understand how the tool works.
The direct user feedback is always a challenge. I'm assuming you've tried a "mom test" approach before to glean some insights (and if not you definitely should)
Keep at it, mate!
Re:Ask HN: What do you use local LLMs for?
on Thursday May 09, 2024 @04:34PM (#40312694)
You can start by defining the scope and the tools you want to use.
Both coding or nocode tools can help. The simplest option would be to take one of those "privacy-friendly" options out there for a spin on a free tier and as you work you'll see what limitations you encounter or features you'd want.
And then you can customize it further using coding tools.

This looks super interesting.
I had an idea to make something like this 2 years ago when I was super into PKMS' but AI wasn't as advanced back then.
What would you say have been the biggest challenges bringing this to life?

Probably not but we could build it.

I'm working on a online course that involves gamification with elements from movies and video games to make topics easy to understand and take people from "passive learning" to "active learning".

Everything that is built with Svelte, I'm going to check it out even if I have no interest in the thing itself.
