Re:Wire open-sourced on Saturday July 23, 2016 @08:14AM (#12149248)
This is usually because the default scroll position of a conversation is at the bottom rather than the top so it significantly simplifies scrolling logic (which can get pretty complex).

I am surprised they are using a table view rather than a collection view for this though.

Re:Writing a Big App in Swift on Saturday March 12, 2016 @02:38PM (#11274174)
I think it's fair to say storyboards haven't improved much since then, although it's a fairly divisive topic.

Personally I still very much fall on the side of not using storyboards for non-trivial UI.

Re:Dear open-source maintainers, a letter from GitLab on Monday January 18, 2016 @05:29PM (#10927485)
Just bought the app from these recommendations. It is beautifully made. Nice work :)
We use two Mac Minis with Teamcity at my current job and it works great.

Every once in a while I VNC in and update Xcode/OS X. That has never been an issue.

Re:Implementing a Sticky Input Field in iOS on Sunday August 09, 2015 @08:23AM (#10030142)
Interesting work, thanks for sharing.

The input field is subview of the keyboard’s window. This is likely undesirable, especially for chat applications.
I am curious as to why this is undesirable. It makes sense to me that something docked to the keyboard would be in the same window.
Re:Is the web dead? on Monday May 05, 2014 @07:21AM (#7697869)
It seems the crap HTML is intentional. From a comment in the html:

<!-- And you can even code like it's 1995 and modern browsers will eat that HTML up for breakfast! High five Costanza. ...
I had the exact same experience while taking swimming lessons as a young child in the west of Ireland. The instructor just chucked me in. She still works there.

I didn't swim for years afterwards but eventually went back to lessons when I was around 12. Strangely enough, I now love the sea. I am an avid surfer and scuba diver.

Re:Popcorn Time is back on Wednesday April 30, 2014 @04:15AM (#7672153)
Popcorn Time previously just showed open domain films in the screen shots. The new one has pictures Game of Thrones and company. It looks like they have stopped pretending this is not for piracy.

edit: clarification

Re:Show HN: My first iOS app – Permeate, the Twitter digest on Saturday April 26, 2014 @02:18PM (#7652275)
Thanks for making Cocoa Controls. It is indispensable.
Discussion on the original Google+ post on this theory is here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7414030
This is really great. Thank you! What made you decide to open source it?
Ah I see. A very polished looking app all the same. But most certainly shady as far as legality is concerned.
What is this? There doesn't seem to be an explanation. Perhaps an aggregator for streaming services? Or just an easy way to pirate films?

Re:Pixate Engine Now Free on Tuesday July 02, 2013 @09:25AM (#5977580)
This changes things quite a bit. I recently started a new project and decided on NUI (https://github.com/tombenner/nui) over Pixate. I have been very impressed by it so far. Does anyone have experience with both? How do they compare?

Mega's launch site (http://kim.com/mega/) appears to be down. It does seem to be getting lots of attention.

It seems quite appropriate that this page is one giant gif!
