what if grok went open source and was on par with open chinese models? the business play may not be the models themselves but owning the data centers and running infrastructure for all models from all companies? a lot of people could then be rooting for xai and elon could ironically save face by actually implementing an open model
nice thanks. been looking for a rust equivalent
this is cool. i don't understand why the word git is in the name if they are trying to get (pun intended) away from git.
buthub has a nice ring to it
how are people not seeing what is going on? they are inching the unified ui towards visionOS & spatial computing. and so corners need to have a much larger hit box and stuff needs to be visible (liquid glass) over a backdrop yet not a huge distracting obstruction. this is a slow transition away from the mouse to the finger as the primary input and the static wallpaper background to your living room and surrounding atmosphere. and so when the time comes it will be familiar and natural to use. just imagine what they are doing in the lab. i believe these decisions are intentional even with some flawed execution
it's a bet for sure. but if you squint or zoom out, you can see that dioxus labs is creating a whole new land of possibilities with blitz, taffy and their rust hot-reload. nothing is more motivating to a founder than adoption so i think developers should look at the big picture and contribute more to help speed things up. a big blocker for me was video in blitz but i solved it myself. ultimately it's up to developers to take a risk and give dioxus some credible case studies. flutter really dropped the ball on web and dioxus has a huge opportunity on the line. hopefully people will give it a real shot to help build some momentum. they are miles ahead in a lot of ways simply due to the vastly available rust crates
looks like las vegas. and integrating it into the conversation would be so draining
reminds me of the black mirror brain implant episode
how did you do the transliteration/port?
how did you do the transliteration/port?
according to entire.io it should. i have been keeping a local log for a while and have now been trying out entire. still not sure how i feel about it
pros:
intent is documented
reference to see how it was made
informal documentation
find flaws in your mental model
others can learn from your style
cons:
others can see how it was made
mention things you don't want others to see/know
people can see how dumb we are
reality:
you will judge and be judged for engineering competency not through code, but through words
nice. like in a game of pool you have many shot options but you choose which will leave you in the best position for the next shot. and in chess...
yeah it's great as long as you understand it's not a traditional character level crdt. it's last write wins so you have to be careful with it
neat congrats on shipping! yeah i was kind of in the same boat which is why instantdb seemed like a good fit but it's early days. matrix feels like a house of cards that is meandering a bit with a ton of msc's. you using synapse or?
reminds me a bit of instantdb.com
i've been vetting matrix. what sold you? what are you using it for? seems like it is resource intensive and still a bit rickety. you using yjs?
"The OSS* Playbook: Turning Free Users into Engineers and back into Paying Users"
that is gold
1 year license for startups without funding
if you think it's a commodity feature, why don't you charge like a commodity feature? google maps doesn't charge a solopreneur with zero users and zero capital $6k a year.
if you were starting fresh and working on your dream, would/could you pony up $6k/year for a feature?
you are alienating young innovators and broke people with this model. how about 1 year no watermark. that should give them enough runway to figure out if it's going to work or not or possibly time to get investment to afford it.
also, what if someone uses it and their app blows up... you have a mystery custom business pricing button. it's interesting that your license could really make or break a company. is that what you wanted when you set out to build this thing? are investors putting the pressure on?
the licensing rollercoaster is pushing me to excalidraw or just using cursor to give me something that works good enough for my use case. it's unfortunate that this has put some stank on an otherwise delightful whiteboard.
Tons! Of! Exclamation! Marks! :)
Thanks guys! I think I may do a milestone based method. Each milestone reached will earn him X% equity. That way he can earn his way in and the risk is low for me.

A couple years ago in the beginning I had a partner... he got married, had a baby & stepped away so I took full ownership. I kept going, bootstrapped and eventually got it off the ground and am currently generating a bit of income. Problem is I'm wearing too many hats and can't grow. Not only is it very stressful doing it alone, it's at the point where it makes no business sense because...
Yeah, but f & t are deeply engrained into everyday life of people and businesses.

The ubiquitous Facebook & Twitter "app icon" logos. Every website, every TV commercial, every magazine, every poster, even on radio... "Like us, follow us!"Companies are spending millions of dollars promoting a website because it's "in", cool, trendy. How long can it last? Most of them just have the f & t logo with no explanation as to why they are there. Just f & t. What does...
Proximity based advertising is cheaper and more efficient to smaller and local businesses.
I've been working on something similar... $41M sure would be nice! For a group of proven talent I can understand the investment, but $41M is pretty crazy.
It appears that social networks are pools of acquaintances. Hmmm interesting...
Thanks for responding...just the answers I expected. Communication is changing at an alarming rate, we are literally in the middle of the communication revolution. It's interesting to think about how humans will interact in 10 years.

Social networking is convenient and entertaining, but is that it? I can count my best friends on one hand and none of us are friends on Facebook and we don't even email each other. When we want to communicate, we give each other a phone call. Text messages are very rare as well.Is this normal? Why?
Nice find. Facebook should have a morning paper about all of the changes & additions they make. They never seem to stick to any one way of doing anything and drive developers nuts!
