Fair!

I feel the same way, that's why Hazumi bundles them into one notification if there are multiple comments on your submission within 5 minutes to keep them informative but not overwhelming

Show HN: Notifications for your own posts on HN

https://www.hazumi.news/top

Morning all,You can now link your HN account, and Hazumi will watch your account's recent posts and send a browser push notification whenever someone comments on them. This is completely free and separate from the regular post watcher where you can manually watch any post you like for changes.Would love to hear your feedback!Cheers, James

Re:Nvidia announces native GPU programming in Rust on Thursday September 17, 2026 @09:37AM (#49740579)
Go is simply not feasible for CUDA work mainly because of the go runtime that manages GC, allocation, scheduling etc

GPU kernels want explicit memory control and as little go-runtime like overhead as possible

Who’s “they”?

Re:C Is Not a Low-Level Language (2018) on Monday September 07, 2026 @03:06PM (#49601819)
I’d say assembly is the lowest level programming language we have. You have to balance the abstraction of hardware instructions with being human readable to also qualify as a programming language

I don’t think byte code qualifies as human readable but it is closer to the metal obviously

Re:Rails Is Done on Monday August 10, 2026 @07:52AM (#49242485)
As a non-white Irish citizen going to school here in the 90's, I hear you. I've been through that.

But, I don't understand why people think a fork of his work magically scrubs his essence from it.

And are they also doubling-down on ensuring his future ideas and commit hashes never find their way into Amiko?

What's the long-term play here because I don't see it other than forking for the sake of changing ownership which does nothing to achieve what the author wants to achieve. A genuine fork which meets his criteria of abolishing DHH would be to completely change the direction and future roadmap while avoiding any future cross-DHH-contamination entirely.

Re:Rails Is Done on Monday August 10, 2026 @07:10AM (#49242152)
There's no real substance behind the fork other than "I don't like DHH".

The author says "Rails is done" meaning, feature complete. So he wants to fork it and have you use that fork instead. Why? I don't know. If it's truly "done", why does it matter what the repository name is? The underlying code will still be the same.

> "I hope we can all thrive together"

Except DHH et al?

> "we want to continue building our web applications without feeling icky."

I didn't know you could feel so negative about the code YOU write, while happily adopting code written by the person you vehemently disagree with.

Since when did we stop saying “IDE” and start saying “code harness”?

Re:New Model Y on Sunday January 12, 2025 @03:30AM (#42672107)
Thank you for the links to sources. Already aware of some but others were definitely news to me.

Musk has already tried to interfere with my country’s politics on X (not listed above) but all I’m saying is I don’t link those political opinions to the Tesla brand and I don’t think it’s fair or healthy to say that another person holds the same political views as the CEO of the product they purchased.

Nobody decent is pro-child labour, rare earth mineral mining or buying diamonds from conflict zones so to say by buying a product of those practises is outward support of those practices isn’t right. Where do we draw the line?

Re:New Model Y on Sunday January 12, 2025 @03:20AM (#42672072)
Well, that’s not a very good way to live — assigning other peoples’ political alignments based on their vehicle purchases.
This just in, the creator of UNIX wants to deactivate your MacBook. Just yours. Sorry, hope you understand.
Re:New Model Y on Saturday January 11, 2025 @04:26PM (#42669036)
Which politics exactly do you say I'm unknowingly expressing?

This sounds like a very US centric point of view to have. Most people outside the US, like myself, don't hold these views of the Tesla brand.

If this was the lens everyone saw the world through, they probably wouldn't buy any mainstream tech including the digital device you're typing this on.

Re:New Model Y on Saturday January 11, 2025 @01:59PM (#42668109)
Nah, I don't make political statements with my purchases. You're thinking too deeply about it. There must be separation because I don't experience politics when driving Tesla.
Re:New Model Y on Friday January 10, 2025 @11:27AM (#42657093)
Yeah I'm hoping it comes like that to all markets. Where I live, there are a lot of roundabouts that I would make turn signals on the wheel a nightmare to use properly
