Technically true and practically irrelevant. Unclear if you’re trolling on purpose.
They should be blocking only “illegal” streams. What they’re actually doing is blocking access to big chunks of the Internet, which contain many sites completely unrelated to the streams but that many people use regularly.
I know the difference between blocking individual sites and every site hosted at Vercel or behind Cloudflare
> This is also why progress is now stagnating
What? Progress is now stagnating?
> "You can't build a startup training the next cutting-edge LLM model"
Again, what? That's exactly how ChatGPT and Claude were created. And many other startups with targeted models like ElevenLabs.
> once we move beyond our current economic system
If it's one of the other systems tried before, "progress" will not be on the menu.
Twenty years ago, for a brand new web framework written from scratch, and by then they had already fixed it.
Every web framework was trash at the time. And the alternative was custom PHP code probably ridden of SQL injections.
I used TurboGears and restarting your web server with a cron job was a pretty common suggestion to "handle" memory leaks.
If the poster stopped acting like an emo teen from the 90s (“Clownflare”, really?), he would be aware of the why of the late Linux usage spike, but maybe he wouldn’t like it (it is mostly because of “Omarchy”)
This was definitely an acqui-hire. I'm glad Adam could find an exit like this.
My reasons to switch to Linux from Windows were very little about "security" and plenty more about freedom. Sure, it was very nice avoiding running an antivirus, but that was just the cherry on top.
I wanted the freedom to change and "rice" my desktop however I wanted, and the Compiz cube looked awesome. I found Windows condescending and restricting in that regard. Yes, my first reason was the aesthetics, kick me out of the nerds club. (That was also the reason I switched to Mac for 10 years).
My second reason was that I suspected I could learn so much more about computers using Linux full time. And I did.
I was also younger and used to associate Windows with soul-sucking corporate jobs and Linux with new ideas and experimentation. It was us-vs-them. Open Source vs Micro$oft and all that vibe.
Because they like their Arch setup?
Because installing Omarchy is three to five minutes at most so three to five times faster? XD
It's definitely not why *I* switched away from Windows
I don't think the worldwide trendings are right. The ones I see (with personalization disabled) are not all in arabic (?)
I don't remember the specifics, it might have been a simplification for the example

One big problem is that lately this kind of extremism has become more like a cult: even considering the idea that the “others” might have some truth (while being wrong about the rest) is treated like blasphemy
Last year alone, 40 people died in Spain in a train derailment. In total, how many people have died over the last 100 years because of something a software engineer did?
So a software evangelist pretending to be humanitarian aid
It's completely naive. To say "we need to be better," you first have to define who "we" are and, by extension, *who isn't*.
Drawing that line is what constitutes a community in the first place. It's the entire reason the EU was created: to define a "we".
The idealistic no-borders vision is only achievable by expanding the nation-state until it covers the whole planet. And probably will only happen when it find outsiders to define itself against, Mars, aliens, whatever ends up counting as "not us."
"Chai" means "tea", so "Chai Tea" is "Tea Tea".
"ATM" means "Automatic Teller Machine", so "ATM Machine" is "Automatic Teller Machine Machine".
Both are mentioned in the animated movie "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse".
What is this, the "lean methodology" for OSS? Every other repo of that user is a placeholder with an ellaborated README but zero code.
I also always block traffic from China, India, Pakistan, and Russia, after observing that 90%+ of the spam/scanning was coming from those countries.
At least for China, I imagine most of the real humans might use a VPN anyway
Yes, but it’s 20k and all the time in the world.
Why you would anyone eats at a restaurant when they can buy the ingredients at the supermarket and download recipes from the Internet?
Why software companies pay for software instead of making it themselves?
Same reason
Is there any charity (older than five years) where the majority of the money doesn’t go to administrative staff?
Established in 2009. Who started as president that year?
I think he's saying he uses his website's URL in his tutorial examples, and other tutorials have copied them as-is
And you know this because of your firsthand experience observing it... or because the media told you so? Considering how readily the media is willing to lie for engagement, the truth is more likely to be the opposite of what they report.
