Solution, meet problem?
Was looking for this comment, thank you.
Re:Whipper: Accurate Audio CD Ripping on Saturday January 14, 2023 @11:38AM (#34381562)
Well, ddrescue can definitely “read audio tracks” and is perfectly suited for making archival copies of Audio CDs but it sounds like the problem you’re actually trying to solve is interpreting the data as Red Book CD-DA and decoding it into chunks you call files ;)
I’m confused… to turn off Wi-Fi on WatchOS, you just swipe down and tap the Wi-Fi icon in Control Center.

I’ve downloaded a copy in the past. It’s a large zone file full of NS records (obviously?) and compressible to a high degree.

There is actually, it’s called Rainbow Vacuum. They used to (maybe still do?) sell them door to door MLM style but the vacuum is actually good in my experience with them.
Re:I drink before I interview on Thursday November 17, 2022 @11:38PM (#33650394)
I can relate completely. This has cost me countless jobs and I have resorted to treating with beta blockers before interviewing. I may be using too low of a dosage because it doesn’t seem to be that effective in my experience.
If I understand your position correctly, you’re advocating for a world where Cloudflare is the arbtrar of ethics, morality, and legality on the Internet? I think I’d rather they just continue to provide service for sites I disagree with? Thanks.
While I appreciate web3 brainrot backpedaling, I don’t see how this is related to explicit rule violation of this site of personal attacks.
Also, maybe you should read this https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html before trying to dox “hypocritical” witches.
10 years ago, I kicked the tires of a (beta, at the time) identity proving service built by a colleague and added all the fields including a crypto wallet. The assumption that it is for personal “donations” is conjecture. I don’t need your money or acceptance. Thanks
Oh wow, that profile I created 10 years ago and have never once revisited has a BTC wallet address. You sure got me.

Re:Google suspended our domain out of the blue – lyearn[.]com on Sunday September 11, 2022 @07:24AM (#32798713)
Not that it matters necessarily but do you have any idea what could have triggered the suspension? What did you host on this site?

Is your web host also deployed within 40ms of every eyeball on earth?

Can you post full (redacted) headers?
I purchased three keys for each family member for Christmas. They’re not the most technically savvy and it hasn’t been an issue for them at all.

(One is on their keychain with an AirTag, one is stored securely in their home. One is stored offsite.)

Every site I’ve registered them with has allowed me to register all three keys. Nobody has lost a key yet (thanks AirTag) but it wouldn’t be a huge ordeal if they did. Just delete that key from their services and use a backup.

There’s a paper about this and a demo site that can accurately derive your password based on a short training period and audio recording. They used distance between key presses and sounds of each key for their specialized acoustical analysis.
For those living 10 years in the past, a degraded experience is probably par for the course and a fair forcing function to move on.

You have draw the line somewhere and degrading the majority’s experience for the minority’s benefit is an unusual trade-off.

As far as I can tell, this hasn’t been an issue for over 10 years—at least for Apple devices?

Whatever happened to, “Design for the expert user”?

Can you elaborate? It seems like it just enforces a specific type of password which is entirely reusable.

They are simulations and bad ones at that. This article is meaninglessly.
Re:Poor Man's Global Traffic Manager on Sunday August 21, 2022 @12:47PM (#32541948)
Please don’t do this.

Authoritative nameserver selection by recursive resolvers is extremely unreliable and implementation specific. This method may actually be worse than health checked records and low TTLs and could leave your site completely unconnectable for uncomfortably long periods of time.

See this paper for more details about nameserver selection of common recursive resolvers, and so called SRTT : https://irl.cs.ucla.edu/data/files/papers/res_ns_selection.p...

Also this presentation, https://youtu.be/z7Jl1sjr9jM

One of the best and most robust solutions for GSLB/GTM is pointing your main entrypoint IP (e.g. apex record/www/api) at an anycasted proxy (Cloudflare/Fastly/Google/AWS, etc), and using the active health check features of that service to the static unicasted (and firewalled!) load balancer IPs of your origin.

These services are not expensive but if you can’t afford them, the second best method would be to round robin A/AAAA records with low (60s) TTLs of a large pool of ingress load balancer IPs—which is exactly how AWS ALB/ELB/NLB operate!

When loadbalancing via DNS, you’ll still contend with misbehaving recursive resolvers (JVM clients for example) but you’ll strand less traffic for less time than you would when withdrawing authoritative nameservers due to unpredictable and chaotic resolver implementations.
