So, a gigantic sauna heater? Very on brand Tommi and Markku!
Re:Stripe Reader on Thursday June 17, 2021 @02:32AM (#27536726)
I guess this went under the radar (heh), but they also introduced a new React component called Stripe Payment Element, to help with local payment methods around the world: https://twitter.com/jordanstaniscia/status/14052064129473822...
And EL, EK, EB, EC.

Client side image editor is the first thing I thought of.
Re:A few HTML tips on Wednesday August 24, 2016 @03:57PM (#12354760)
A note regarding alt attributes on img: they should almost always be empty. Please don't just fill it with the related title or heading, as it just creates a lot of unnecessary text for screen readers. More: http://www.456bereastreet.com/archive/200811/writing_good_al...

Ah, the days of Action Quake 2. Strife jumping and writing configs where as big part of the game as the rounds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqOnty5VKHs#t=18
1. Make it keyboard accessible 2. Use aria-attributes instead of data-attributes where possible: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Accessibility/A...

pretty cool!

No idea what it costs, but GDS[1] is doing a pretty good job on http://gov.uk. My guess is that only the savings on closing hundreds of sites [2] justifies it. Maybe it also prevents some of the uk citizens from not going nuts while trying to do gov business online ;)

Re:0 to 60 in One Second: Fusing WebGL, CSS 3D and HTML on Saturday August 24, 2013 @01:31PM (#6269210)
My first thought was "Holy shit, is this guy Daim?", a street artist I had forgot about a long time ago. Very nice homage!
Took me a while to understand that i had to click on the search button in order to type (probably because of the animated vertical-bar-thing (what is it called?))
Was just about to write the same comment, but don't feel an upvote is enough. Great work on the ux, and the help texts answered my questions spot on.

Great job :)

Edit: And it remembered my entered values when i accidentally left the page!

Edit again: To add some constructive: I'm not to good at ounces, oz and cups, would it be possible to add an option for using the metric system?

Re:Show HN: Combine hacking and skiing in SiliconChalet on Friday April 05, 2013 @11:32AM (#5499000)
I'm a front end developer, and is just finishing my first season snowboarding in the alps (Val Thorens, France). My employee in Oslo gave me a leave of absence for 5 months (shameless plug; thanks Making Waves!), and let me work ~1 day a week (some weeks more, some weeks less). I gotta say, it's been a great experience.

Living with 4 other strangers in a 28 square metres apartment in a foreign country without knowing the language (french) sounded intimidating, but now I don't regret it for a second. My room mates turned out to be great, and (most) frenchies actually speak english up here!

Getting good internet connection up here isn't always easy, so I've mostly been working from different restaurants and pubs with wifi, or used the (shitty, overpriced) shared wifi. Guess I could have tried harder to get an internet connection to my flat, but its been fun having a "office" at different places.

You will get spoilt by the nice days, but hey, the body needs rest :)

I believe his point is that in HTML5 block elements inside the a element is valid.
Re:Operations Anti-Patterns on Sunday September 02, 2012 @12:51PM (#4467443)
Heres another anti-pattern: big buttons with only the text being clickable

Not according to Paul Irish: http://paulirish.com/2012/box-sizing-border-box-ftw/

The biggest downside is that its only supported in IE8+

They should definitively add the data as tabular data as well. However, I think this is great for people who are not good with numbers. Probably not the color blind tho, red and green bubbles hovering over each other cant be good. Add some subtle patterns to each category as well as colors.
Re:The Design of a Signage Typeface on Saturday April 21, 2012 @02:20AM (#3871107)
Great article.

"Once I even ended up in a holding cell at the border crossing to Norway, because the customs officers just wouldn’t accept that someone would drive all over Europe simply to take photographs of traffic signs."

Would love to hear more about this :)

According to this survey (http://webaim.org/projects/screenreadersurvey3/), 98.4% had enabled js.
Lovely usage of the font Rockwell, but you should specify some fall back fonts.

CSS example:

h1,h2 { Rockwell, "Courier New", Courier, Georgia, Times, "Times New Roman", serif; }
